Default Anyone running metal tracks on Sturmtiger?

I was curious if anyone was running metal tracks on the Matorro Sturmtiger. I have found myself in the unique position of having a Sturmtiger, and a set of the Mato metal tracks that aren't being used. Would the plastic gears withstand the metal tracks? (I don't plan on adding the metal road wheels or anything). Is anyone running the plastic gears and metal tracks? Will the Tiger I metal gearbox go in the Sturmtiger without any modification?

Metal on plastic gears? I wouldn't do it if I were you. I'll be installing some metal tracks on my Tamiya Sturm and only plan to drive it slow and not far!

If it's an HL Sturmtiger the gearboxes should be the same. I'm not sure but I think all HL tanks use the same gearboxes

No, it's a Matarro Sturmtiger (basically the same thing, though). The gearboxes are enclosed, but I don't know if the gear layout is the same under the covers or not.

I have the Sturm and I have the mato steel tracks and wheel upgrade. They are painted but not installed, the Sturm moves to quickly and is jerky, if the steel upgrade doesn't slow it down I will probably try the HL steel gearboxes. I wouldn't put steel tracks on plastic drive wheels for longterm but its ok shortterm.

I guess I forgot to mention it, but I am going to put the metal drive sprockets and idlers on from the Tiger -- I'm just not going to order the metal road wheels. My question was, would the plastic gears in the gearboxes hold up if using metal tracks.

i have a sturm & run metal chains... motors are a little smaller than my tiger but gear layout looks like it could withstand metal chains (no problem)...also good for realism and weight. [8D]...in the future i will put 180:1 - 200:1 ratio for my beast & i will show how. do the metal thing! its fun!
