My HL Persching was moving forward when suddenly the engine sound stopped and the lights started flashing. However, at that point it was still moving. After I stopped it, it would not start again although the lights kept flashing. I have tried a different battery, crystal, controller and checked the aerial connection, without success. It will not start again.
Have you any ideas?

First Welcome to the tank forum
One of the main problems we have with these tanks is the antenna wire inside the tank, it's either broken, touching something or some have found it to be easier to just replace it with a new wire and better connector.
I've had something like that happen on my Panzer III and it turned out to be the RX board (small board) easy fix new board
(spare) only one plug and resolder the antenna wire on. Good luck.[sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Thanks. Being your average female wires and such are scary if not unintelligible.
I'll do my best to fix. Keep your fingers crossed!

Sue,
You have already proven yourself far and above the 'average female' by 1) getting a tank, and 2) by wanting to fix it yourself!
Welcome to the band of brothers, and now, sisters.
Your symptoms point to no signal to the recvr. Could be grounded, or broken, or disconnected, antenna wire in the tank (as hdbeast suggests). You'll have to carefully open up the tank. It's the black wire, screwed to a brass post on the back of the deck (the top of the hull) that the silver antenna, on the outside sticks onto. Following that wire, it goes to a cheesy silver connector, and from there to the recvr circuit board. Check to make sure solder joints along the way are solidly connected and that the silver connector is connected. Then wrap the connector with electrical tape (that black vynal stuff you find at RadioShack). That should take care of anything you can address inside the tank.
You say that you have tried different chrystals (I assume in the xmitr) and even a different xmitr. That should rule out anything external to the tank (xmitr), assuming that the new chrystal and the chrystal in the new xmitr were the same frequency as the tank recvr. (very low chance that you broke the tank recvr's chystal, unless you dropped the tank. If so, you would have broken much more than the recvr xtal.
good luck,
Splat

Hi SUEC,
Hope by now you my have already solved your problem, but thought I might add a simular sittuation that happened to me and what turned out to be the problem. My last two tanks I bought a tiger and a panther hl S&S models. The panther worked fine, but the Tiger was the problem.(the guy I bought it from was the one who helped me find the problem in a round about way)The lights would flash on the tank, but it would not start.I e-mail the seller and he replied back asking me to check the (crystals)to make sure they were the same chanel(they were)checked to make sure one was for Tx and Rx and matching frequency and everything was ok that way.So I took out the crystals from another tank and radio, put them into the transmitter and tank that did not work. Problem solved, tank worked perfect,Just a defective crystal. Hope this might be help to you and others. BIGMIG

Thanks SMART RACER,
Glad that also worked to save someone else from a lot of un-needed trouble shooting. This may be one of the first easy things to do to make sure the crystals are working right. In my case it was the one on the transmitter that was bad.
