Default Next project --Done

Getting ready to start the next round of entertaining myself.Cleaned the work table off,and the next project is setting on it.
Posting a couple of pictures, the one I did before here on the forum and a stock 1/12 scale Hummer sill in the packing material.
As stated here before this was my favorite project so far.Really liked how it turned out,but still want to match the paint color on the wheels to the tank.Color at present is not all that close. This one I'm about to start on will be a lot like the first one.It will get guted and the lower hull will be modified quite a bit,it will also get tracks like the first one.Although I like the way the gun shoots like a machine gun(really throws out the BB,s) it is going to be removed and replaced by something different.--this is still in the Idea stage yet so won't say yet what it will be replaced by.But what I plan on will be different and hopefully look neat.(at least to me and I hope a few others).Plan to start on this one in a few days. I'd like to see you accurize it, or more or less make it into a Tamiya clone. Remove the "ray gun" on the top and replace with a scale M2.50, etc.

You got to at least paint the thing. Desert tan or woodland camouflage are the only colors they come in (to my knowledge) and the woodland has a distinct pattern to it that is replicated on every single one that I've seen (and I see them just about every day).

That's my boring idea. [>:]

Which is pretty much what I want to do, either M1025 (MG) or M1046 (TOW), drivetrain replacement, better shocks - all sticking to the HMMWV look (no monster truck bs)

I don't even want to use the gun, that would be the first thing I removed (it looks plain stupid). Next big thing on the agenda would be bye-bye toy bushland paintjob.

Thats if I could get one into the country without a $250,000 fine or 10 years prison time.... have emailed my local police to clarify where I stand

I like accurizing things without spending huge dollars, I'd rather it look like a HMMWV in Iraq than stock (kiddie-wonderland-mobile complete with space howitzer) - but thats just me.

I couldn't stand to look at it as-is (stock), I think it looks terrible right out of the box (but good project start). You remind me of the "kid next door" on Toy Story movie

EDIT: By the above comment I meant how you hybrid one thing with another - PzIII turret on Humvee lol. Have ya seen the movie? remember "babyface" - the doll with meccano spider-legs? I was in no way critizising YOUR particular work or end-product, only what I personally would do with one, if I had one in my hands.

I see no derogatory comments made towards you personally in my above statement, my only criticism is of the manufacturer's reasoning behind sticking a giant motherluvin' gun (aka kiddie-wonderland-mobile complete with space howitzer). Sure, it's aimed at kids who would think big guns are cool, people that dont know the difference between an M1025, M1046 or M996 for that matter. Again I want to make it clear that I think it is a great start for a Humvee-based project.

If you are somehow hurt or angered by my previous comments regarding the "kid next door on Toy Story" -- my meaning was of that you take parts of one thing and add them to another, forming a hybrid -- muchlike Sid "the kid next door on Toy Story" did with a dolls head and some metal meccano pieces, forming "babyface" ([link=http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000682V4.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg]see pic for examples[/link]).

If my comments caused you harm, this is straight-up unintentional and I'm sorry if I didn't manage to word it well enough that it could be construed as malicious or hurtful in any way.

guys, please..[]
we all know that everyone has different tastes and opinions, different strokes for different folks and all that..? i personally don't like the paintjob or gun either but bigmig does and thats what matters..
i knew exactly what you meant by the toy story comment wackywheels and i know you didn't mean it as any sort of neg comment..having seen the film many times myself i thought it was a pretty spot-on comment..!
bigmig, i know you have had a pretty rough ride recently on this forum and i for one don't understand why..?
i enjoy reading your posts and many other peoples even if the topic is of a different interest to me.. you're posts are very helpful and interesting and if people like yourself didn't post what they are doing then we'd all have near enough the same toys to play with..!
i'm glad you are back posting on the forum bigmig and i hope you'll carry on with this post, i wanna see how it turns out..!! from reading this thread for the 1st time today, i think maybe(imo) you were feeling a little negativity towards your new project but i really don't think any was intended..??[:@][]
personally, i think that when people e-mail, or post on a forum, or text with their mobile phone, it can very easily be misunderstood as it's just black and white words on a screen and you don't get to see or hear the other persons tone or expression..?
all just my own humble opinion and i hope you guys don't mind me "butting in" as i don't post that often, usually only when i'm stuck and need expert help!!!

PEACE BROTHERS AND SISTERS after all, it's not war..!

Now how can you go back into the thread and edit all your posts so I don't know what you've said? That's not fair. I guess you were pretty harsh on wackywheelz but he'd just taken an honest interest in your thread as I had, I imagine.

You said something about making this one very different from the first, or so I thought, and I was just commenting on making it more like the real thing.

I just love the HMMWV a lot. A very capable and brutish vehicle and I've driven them a lot, especially in convoys. With that said I just wanted you to conform, (CONFORM! ) to the main focus of this forum in that we take away the "toyness" or inaccuracies of the HL vehicle or whichever tank it may be and make it more realistic. At least that seems to be our collective aim on this forum. Your viewpoint is different and I celebrate that.

You said different so I said "why not this?"

I know how much us "bargain basement" guys loathe, and I mean loathe Tamiya but all I meant was make it like the more realistic Tamiya HMMWV of which this 1/12 vehicle very closely emulates.

Well said Harq, except the part about Tamiya ! :P
I wish the forum only allowed you to append your posts and not change them entirely, for historical accuracy
