Simulated muzzle blast

...maybe a tiny burst of compressed air blowing smoke out of the barrel?
Yeah, I know it would be all kinds of fun trying to rig that up!

One old, outdated website on Civil War-era model warship combat offers an idea for simulating cannon smoke. This is intended to be used with CO2 powered ball-bearing cannons used in model warship combat, not an electric airsoft cannon. I have never heard of anyone actually trying this, so I have no idea if it even works, but it may give you some ideas.
Guns can be made to simulate cannon fire by using a simple system. When firing, CO2 is released into a plastic pill bottle via 1/8" hose inserted from the top of the bottle 3/4 of the way down. The bottle is filled 1/3 of the way with talcum powder. At the top of the pill bottle, ¼" hoses are connected to the gun ports. The CO2 blows down on the talcum powder creating a cloud that shoots out of the gun barrels. This creates a realistic simulation of actual cannon fire.

Tamiya has the flash unit you can put in your barrel, but you need the rest of the electronics to make it work. I know I have seen a video of smoke coming out of a Tiger/KT, but can't find it.
Here is a 1/6th KT off of YouTube

I always thought that would be a more important feature than a LED gun flash, exhaust smoke or even a paint ball/BB. Muzzle blast is seen in almost every re-enactment and would be pretty cool in 1/16th.

Some our tanks (1/6) have .22 blank guns. When we do shows inside we are not allowed to fire blanks. My Stuart has a 12v compressor, hopper, and momentary switch. When I flip the landing gear switch I get a puff of smoke (baby powder). The Armortek Tiger has a option for a 12 guage black powder blank six shot. I have yet to add this option. Im almost sure I would get into trouble with that one.

I believe that Nick from Texas Armor Association set up a smoke discharge from the barrel of one of his Tamiya tanks, but I don't remember any details. I guess that didn't help much.
