Question on weathering an already painted tank
I'm just wondering, I've already painted (Tamiya Acrylic) my tanks and sealed with Testors Dullcoat. Can I add weathering? I've got Tamiya's Weathering Pastel Set A and B coming in the mail from Tower Hobbies (for my Panther!). If I can what do I seal it with? Can I use Tamiya's TS-13 (Synthetic Lacquer Clear Spay) to seal after finished?
Thanks for any help,

RE: Question on weathering an already painted tank
I use a dull/matt coat to seal the pastel weathering. I usually do 2-3 layers of weatheirng, each with a coat of dull/matt, so yes its ok to weather over a dull/matt coating. I would suggest giving decals a few dull/matt coats before weathering to protect them from tearing during the weathering process.

Thank you ArmChairGeneral you answered my question perfectly.
I've been looking for a nice camo job for my Panther and I like what this guy did with his:

Saw the Panther on the Web site.....I speak German so I sent him an Email and asked him about the red hatch covers...(he's in Holland)....you obvious took the idea from him. Inside of hatches are always the same color as the tank, and the red color just doesn't make sense.

Outstanding Panther, I have seen it before, and it is true, the inside of Panther hatches were often painted in the terrible red primer color. I will research the source tonight. John

The tanks were painted with Red oxide primer before the main colours went one, but the crew compartment was sprayed white (easier to find things), whilst the engine compartment stayed red-oxide...

many of the Wehrmacht tanks were silver inside....nice for illumination but hard on the eyes and silver was more expensive paint.
Never have seen the red oxide paint on hatches. Every day learn something new..

Where'd you hear or see that? You mean WW2 tanks? I've always seen either Red Oxide Primer, Ivory and a form of Light Green.

RE: Question on weathering an already painted tank
In many cases, the inside hatches were the same colour as the exterior of the vehicle (for obvious camoflage reasons). The rest of the interior was a cream (off-white colour). Here are some pics by the way of the shots of a Panther I took while on vacation at the Jacques Littlefield Collection in California USA. It is a Panther G model:

That's a fantastic Panther.[X(]...show what you can do if you have money. [8D] I doubt if any new Panthers ever looked that good. Absolutely amazing!
