Hey all,
I recently got some ElMod bits:
- Thinktank TLS 1.17
- Thinktank Booster 1.20M
- Blaster CPU 1.03
- Blaster CPU 1.05
- appropriate wiring etc
Question: is it possible to use these with the HL board and transmitter?

Wacky,
Full work instructions in PDF on the El Mod site, you can definately use with the Heng Long Boards!
Go to the Site Below left hand side under the heading Support, then Manuals!

OK, just testing them without a receiver, I'm getting continous really fast flickering of the red LED -- is this a "lack of receiver" error?
When I hook up just the TLS and Booster, the booster flashes a couple of times then goes off, while the TLS does the fast red LED flicker.
No green LED yet... receiver-less?

There are two versions of the Booster firmware, one for Hen Longs and the other for proportional radios. Make sure sure you have the one that has "HL" ( not "PROP" ) on the Booster chip if you want to use it with HL electronics.

No difference in firmware for HL or proportional systems, the only difference in firmware is the K (plastic tracks) or M (metal tracks) version of the Booster chip. wirings for both systems are substantially different:
http://www.el-mod.de/pdf/prop_DoItYourSelf_english.pdf here are the connections for a fully proportional controlled Booster and here:
http://www.el-mod.de/pdf/booster_english.pdf for a standard HL installation.
The main difference is the wiring, when purchasing a Booster unit you must indicate plastic or metaltracks and HL or Prop in order to receive the adequate chip and wiring. When needed you can convert a Prop installation to HL or vice-versa.
Regards

Bingo, this is the exact info I needed!!
The way mine is now it's a Booster M configured for PROP, but that pdf shows me where and what I need to do to interface it with the stock HL S&S board (RX14).
Anyone running stock boards (either RX13 or RX14) with booster, booster TLS and blaster??

I run on fully prop, but a friend of mine has the same ElMod installation you have (i don't know the HL board ref.), plus the Think Tank Drive, and it runs perfect, amazing sound! [8D]

Actually with all 3 plugged together via EMnet cable, this is my turn-on sequence (without proportional receiver connected):
Booster blinks red twice then goes out (nothing lit), TLS continues to blink for 10 seconds then goes solid red, Blaster continues to blink red

My board came with two LEDs, one was the power indicator and the other blinked when receiving commands or adjusting the Tx sticks (if I remember well.....)
The power LED flashed three or four times, then went red as an indication of the "ON" status. Dunno if they have changed something, my ElMod boards are from the first batches...

mine has micro low-profile LEDs (1 for power, 1 for input/command) like usual.
When I hook up just the Booster and TLS (without the Blaster) the Booster power LED flashes twice, goes out, then both it and the TLS Power LED start flickering really fast.
Same with just the Booster alone: power LED flashes twice, goes out, then starts flickering really fast.

Just switched Blaster CPU's (1.03 to 1.05) and now my boot sequence with Booster/TLS/Blaster is:
Turn on - Blaster blinks then lights solid, Booster blinks once, then it and the TLS start flickering power LEDs continously
Same with just Booster and Blaster.

First of all my apologies to Thedonut
I went to ElMod's site and found that there are....5 versions of firmware!!! from software version 1.20 and later. When I installed mine, there were only 2 versions, K and M....
@Wackywheelz
I couldn't find any reference to your problem, the only related info I've found in the FAQ section is:
"Question: What is the meaning of the LED blinking on the Booster or the front lights after power up?
Answer: The modules initialize and connects to each other via EmNet. It lasts up to 3-4 seconds."
Why don't you e-mail them?, they are very friendly and should tell you exactly what is your problem.

Yes, I have the Booster and TLS. Same thing you're going through happend to me when I tried to use an "HL" with proportional electronics. Thomas at El-Mod was nice enough to send me a "Prop" chip to fix things.

No problem, I thought the metal and plastic thing was the only difference, too.

...but is continous flickering (not flashing) for more than 20 seconds "normal" for a PROP without a receiver hooked in. To me I would think it would go through it's boot sequence fine without a receiver hooked in, and thats as far as I would expect it to go.
the blaster (sound module) blinks then goes solid just fine (after i switched in the 1.05 CPU chip) - as the manuals state it should when working properly. The Booster and TLS are another story...

I have an old unit, and it interfaced fine with the HL electronics. Once I figured out a properely heat sinked Heng Long board lasted, my need for the El Mod unit was not as important.
