Gary,

I have Tiger in Combat I, it is very good. Tiger in Combat II has the SS units in it. As to the other two, no experience with them, but they're on my list too!

I second that sentiment...Nearly all who are on this forum are very happy to share and see various builds. No need for a cost discussion.

So Gary, how's the build coming? Still gathering parts?

Hey Jeff

Yes, still waiting for about 50% of the parts I've ordered, So far I received my order from BYA[sm=thumbs_up.gif] and StellaModels, the largest order is from ETO[sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif], They have all the parts in stock, But Willy's selling me a set of hex and allen screws he uses for the suspention arms and they also replace most of the Phillips screws that are on the outside of the Tank, He had to order those, so I will get every thing in one shipment.

It's very hard for me to look at this box just sitting here begging to be built, but I said I was not going to rush it and post as much of the actual building of the tank and any mods. I do. This may end up being a long building post, but I'm thinking of showing how much is involved in building a Tamiya from start to finish and not look to much like Stern's build. I will be adding metal upgrades (cosmetic) and making some changes to the plastic Tamiya parts but I'm not trying to make it 100% accurate as Stern did.

Maybe next week I will be able to start[][>:]

Yes, I understand how you feel. The journey is much more satisfying than having a completed kit. The kit is really great though. It's my favorite so far. I ran it at the battle and it was a real beast, towering above all the Tiger 1s and Panthers. You're going to love it.

Willy's sending me a set of long can 400 motors for mine. It really needs them with the gear reductions and metal tracks on it. A bit underpowered as it stands right now.

Have you been researching paint schemes? Are you going to do a camo?

FYI, I'm not sure if you are going to install track hangers, but a friend of mine at SCAT's battle day (posts on this forum as el65co) demonstrated to me how his KT that had track hangers made by himself out of welding rod (wire feed welder). It looked great. He took the rod and bent it in an "L" shape, supergluing it in holes he drilled in the turret. He hangs the spare tracks on the turret, and they're removable. Nice...

Hey Jeff

I have three books coming from Amazon about the KT and I do plan on a Camo paint job, never done one so that should be fun. I've used airbrushes for many years and have a couple of nice ones to work with.

I also like the Idea of using what ever I can to make my parts for a mod, like the track hangers, I thought the aftermarket ones were a bit to costly. When the rest of my order comes in I'll show a picture of what I'm using.

Thanks for the tip on using the wire, I just happen to have a Mig welder.

Actually the rod I used is for TIG welding. Straght rod about 36"long in mild steel and stainless. It comes in various sizes and is great for handles, hangers and anyhting else you can think of.

No problem! I use it all the time for all kinds of stuff. Sometimes I walk around work looking for stuff to use.

Well it's been over a month since I got this KT and still have not started, ( still waiting for many parts from ETO and BYA) and I found the build way back on I think page 8 or 9. I thought maybe if I cleaned off my work area and pulled out some of the first King Tiger parts to work on and then put some shelfs up for my tanks that my parts would show up, just some wishfull thinking. Anyway here is a pic of my work area before and after (after with only some of the metal KT parts) and a pic of the self project. ETO please send me my orders[sm=cry_smile.gif][sm=pirate.gif]

Only some of the upgrades came in and I found out that there was a misunderstanding on the other orders, but Willy (ETO) has it back in control and said the rest are to ship out this weekend.

Got the instructions for the PE parts and it's 37 pages long[X(] the detail is very good. This KT build will start soon. (I HOPE)

Cool looking work area and I will enjoy reading/watching your build progress.

Just a reminder, disconnect your tank batteries before displaying the tanks on the shelves.

Especially the Tamiya model tanks will move and or hop, perhaps off the shelves, as the battery drains over time (even with all switches Off).

Alot of guys have learned that the hard way, I have been told it is a DMD glitch.

Gary,

Pcomm1 brough up a good point about leaps of death by tanks. Are you planning on installing a charging port or on/off (battery isolating) switch? I did on mine (I'm pretty sure you saw the pic of it I posted), but would do it differently for the next one.

Just wondering....

I went right in and unpluged all the batteries after pcomm1 suggested I do, and I would like to read how you did your charge port, will need to search for it , I'm sure I read it as I think I read every post I can but since I didn't have the KT at the time I may have not have read it as close as I will now Thanks, any tips on this build are greatly appreciated.
