"A HL controller WILL NOT work on the Matorro KT, even when you switched the crystal . Seems that there is a different between HL and Matorro's controller. Does this mean that the circuitry on the KT is different from the one onboard typical HL S&S tanks?"
Did you switch out both crystals on the sender radio and the receiver board on the tank?

Yes, that should work! Humm, that would be strange, what does the frequency say on the crystal, is it in the 27 mhz range?

Its been a long day for me, but I am stumbed? That doesn't make any sense, Maybe Mattoro and Heng Long our different companies, and they have a slightly differant radio protocal for the 27 mhz frequency range! Did you get a number on the main (ESC) board does it say RX-13 or RX-14 or something different? And if you have some extra boards just out of curiousity change the reciever board and use your old heng long crytals in it the with the HL radio and the old crystals, that should work or they made major changes?
The Blitz
P.S. did I miss it or did you ever get a measurement of the width of the Hull at the Drive sprocket??

About the width of the hull, do you mean the width of the front bottom chassis that house the gear box? If that's what you want, it's 13cm. Hope this helps.

Thanks Swath, that clears up the crystals not being compatible! I have no will power I am goiing to order one these beast, I have a bunch of parts to convert to Hend Long, and it looks like the Pershing gear box will fit! I am still curious about using the motorro ESC board with the HL reciever board to retain new sound or maybe the little sound chip has the same pin out I could just swap that??
Thanks Calvinlo from your measurement at least width wise the Pershing gear box will fit!

And why is everyone wanting to convert to HL gear boxes? Did anyone her of any matorro gear boxes breaking..I didn't? I know i said that the first matorro tank out felt like it had no tork and did not turn the tank good... But that was on the first tank that ran on AA cells BUT the KT now runs on sub C cells and like with any RC product the sub C cells give your RC much more power than the AA's do... maybe the matorro gear box is in fact better than the Hen long gear boxes...at least the matorro boxes are seald and no dirt can get in on the gears...

Ah, Heng long has 3 differant Tigers, a Pershing, a Panzer III, a Bulldog and a Pantiger. Matorro has the Stumtiger.... As a matter of fact, I haven't heard one word on the Strumtiger, so you may be on to something, or maybe they don't sell that well? Either way I will find out in a week or so and let you know, it will be ran at the "proving grounds", well if it makes it put of my front yard!

I have the Stumtiger only problem i had with it is the airsoft motor broke because they use a cheap one with only copper tabs that hit the com and they wore out quick so i replaced it with one of the HL ones that use brushes....Other than that my Stumtiger works fine other than a lack of power for turning out doors...but i feel that is caused by the AA pack it uses the new KT uses 7.2 regular sub C cell packs they will supply the motors with more amprage if they need it as the AA's won't so the KT may be nice now with more power.

Wow this got old quickly!
I got mine 3 years ago and it has been a beast but I never changed the sounds chip out..Hmmm they look the same as the HL chip so I wonder if the pin outs are correct?

I wish someone with the knowledge could do a pin out of the sound chips. I would love to break the trace that instigates that awful clacking sound on the RX 18. The cannon, machine gun and start up are OK, but that clicking/clacking sound is horrid.
Also the sound chip in the Mato Sherman when run through a good speaker is quite good. I would love to able to splice that into a Heng Long Board. I htink I will post a seprate thread on this request, just to see if someone has done it yet.
Dan
