OMFG the price... I dont know how you guys manage it!

Remember: be honest, dont hold back. If you find problems with the kit, make others aware so people can prepare aftermarket bits blah blah

that's $110 less than I paid for my 1;1 scale. Way too much overpriced.[:@] Back to conversion kits and the fun of rebuilding.

I don't get hung up on cost, but why is it so expensive? I mean there is no turret so this thing is just a recoil mech and a Panther hull right? Has the a Panther runnning gear been sorted out yet? Am I missing something? Still, I want one so bad but I think I will get a Sherman or a Tiger first.

Not to sound like I'm defending Tamiya, but to answer this question.

Once you build, own and operate a Tamiya tank then one will appreciate the cost of it. I'm sure after it's been out a while the price might drop or another vendor will lower the price. I'm not surprised it isn't any cheaper. With new electronics and a new elevation unit that can be rotated left and right as well as elevated and depressed.

It has nothing to do with how many parts were used to make it. Why do jeeps cost as much as minivans? It's what the market will bear. If supply lasts long enough, that price won't come down.

First, a disclamer: I'm not trying to defend nor start an argurment. (Alot of that going on around here.)

Just curious as to what background you are drawing your comparison from. I have done both for over 25 years, was once ASE Certified and worked on BMW's, domestic and other imports. Comparing the cost of one automobile manufacturer to another isn't a very good comparison for comparing Hen Long to Tamiya.

Like I said, if you have built and owned them you'll know that the quantity of parts combined with the quality will dictate the price of a R/C tank. A lot of engineering went into the Tamiya tanks, so that will reflect in it's cost.

If Tamiya had more competition they would lower their prices, which seems to be coming soon... I never trust mechanics or auto sales people LOL ......

I doubt it.

Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Infiniti ...... and how cheap are they? They are in a feature / performance race. Competition does NOT always bring down the price, though it may improve the content.
