Idea for Tiger snow upgrade
It seems that every-time the Tiger goes out in snow the idler wheel groove fills with snow thus increasing its radius, stressing the tracks and consequently breaking the tracks.
Seeing as nothing goes into that groove, why not fill it in? That way snow would have no where to accumulate.

Add an extra link each side to add some "give", stock they're pretty tight in stock form, so anything that goes in the tracks could do damage if you cant see it (snow).

If you have ever seen large off road dump trucks, between the rear tires is a bar designed to keep it clear of rocks and debris. Maybe you could make something similar to keep the rear idler groove clear. Regards, JZ

No, the HL. That groove in addition to snow has a tendency to pick up other things in the other seasons like pebbles, rocks and so forth.

As I've said before...
Forget the grease or cooking sprays... Armor All! Get the pump bottle, and put a bit into an empty paint can (the small Tamiya's are perfect) and then use one of the large Tamiya brushes to 'paint' the return rollers, the sprocket, the idler, and even the tracks if you think they need it.
The Blizzard guys swear by it, and we were using it over a decade before for keeping both muck and snow off our RC truck tires.
Armor All, makes your dingy old tires look NEW, great for getting that molding powder off, and even for preparing tires for when you have to paint or dulcote over top... one rub afterwards, and its a paint-release too!

Ok, I did it. I filled the idler wheel solid. Im sad to say snow still accumulated around the idler! Ugh! And I broke a swingarm in the process

Not sure which Tiger you are talking about. I am constantly running VsTank Tiger in the snow. The only time snow packs in the idler wheel is if the temperature outside is above -3C degrees. If it is colder than -3C degrees you should be fine...

I'm sure reguadless of which tank you run snow, gravel, rocks, twigs, etc can cause track problems I don't think that only HL tanks suffer from this
