Yes those gear boxes look great. The low profile sure works well with the T-34. I have a SU 100 with the original drive. Once this starts giving me trouble, I know what i'll be putting in it!!!.

Nice work Rob. Looks pretty much like a bullet-proof set up!

thanks for the encouragement guys Really happy with the way it turned out limited work and a lot of gains
the brass tube between the rear gears is a must
as those that have the T34 will now just how much play there is in there[>:][>:]

wiring and boards in made a new antenna with thanks to PZRWEST
also noticed that whilst under power it's possible to speed these gearboxes up by moving the final gear to the position in the pic with the green outline in

Wow I would like to mod my T34 with that gearbox too. Oh by the way, would like to know where did you order the metal spur gear from? I would like to put one onto the T34 shaft too and see if it increases the torque. I've tried to search for the ebay add which you gave but couldn't find the ebayer.

the "spur" gear is from the metal upgrade set and the one i got was from the Blueslatesman of E-vil bay
unfortunatly the rest of the gears from the set are now useless[X(][]

this gear is actually from the Henlong metal gearbox on the final shaft which attaches to the sprocket

Yes, the plastic gear housing is just not up to the task of holding those metal gears all in place for the long term. The gear transplant will probably be required on my SU 100 one day. I believe in running them unitl failure though, and so far the SU 100 has stayed together. I still have the metal tracks on the shelf though, as I have been afraid to tax the stock gearbox with the addition of the metal tracks. Seems like once you go to metal tracks you better be prepared for things to start going wrong.

I've popped 2 std gearboxes in mine (although they were being run on std car E.S.Cs)
which is why i went with the metal upgrade put that in but it still was noisey and the gears "floated" around so much decided enough was enough and went this route

What make of tank is this? It looks similar to a Heng Long.

With Heng Long boards etc (converted from crappy 1-speed/dual-stick boards). It's the "thing to do" with WSN's, convert to HL - much more enjoyable tank! :-)

The old electronics are "PANTS" IMHO
oh yea did i mention the old gearbox is Dire as well
but overall the rest of the tank is pretty good shame there of limited stock haven't seen any for a year or so
what with the I/R model now out in the shops
But from what i've heard the detail isn't as good as the older version[][]

Doubt it, it'd be like WSN doing a Panzer III and IV - Why bother when they're already available in quantity. Reinventing the wheel a few times over gets old quick, hence we're starting to see some variety (manufacturers doing what hasnt been done before).

Torro saved costs on the latest revision (the IR version), removed a lot of the detail parts, killed off things like removeable hatches etc which made life easier for those with the original Out of Production WSN version (non-IR)

Oh? I was under the impression that HL-style 1/16 T-34s were hard to get...

HL-style? WSN original OOP ? The newer Torro/IR version are very much in full production, but only limited places stock them.

The originals had a crappy 1 speed board, and you had to use two sticks on the controller just for basic driving functions. We all switch them to Heng Long internals, as I have with my "guide", as they become a much better tank. Detail is great, but still mechanically as good as Heng Long (which are cheaper) until you go as far as fv432 has

started work on the lid
got rid of the fake molded mesh and replaced with some real mesh
the green blob is filler/putty where the hole for the aerial was

the mesh was out of a 2pack kitchen implement used to stop fat spitting every where when you have a "FRY-UP" and only cost £1 from my local "POUND SHOP"

Great work there mate, I think I will stick with the srandard metal upgrade for now, but if that doesn't play well I will follow your lead and get some new gearboxes.
Keep up the good work Harvey

Thanks HVI
The std metal upgrade parts are good it's the housing that let's them down and the brass collar on the final drive is easy to get of with a pair of pliers and a lot of twisting (It's a push /hammer on fit )

thanks pete the aerial mod is Pzrwest's brain child works good till the 34 goe's behind my son's steel trampoline and then stop's dead at only about 10-15 feet
The length of the aerial is only about 12" long and that is the problem so will need a longer coil i reckon
should have read harolds post better LOL

Kind regards Rob

P.S the T34 will be at bovvie not sure on a dbu for it yet though[X(]
