If you are in Europe or farther east, then it is Sunday Night Foto Fun again. For the rest of us in the Americas, it is a little early, but hey, I have time in the morning. Here is a chance to post some pictures of tanks you've been working on, or taken pictures of. IF you haven't posted a picture before, why don't you contribute something. We'll walk you through the picture posting process, and you too can become an active Forum partcipant. I know there are a lot of you out there who view what goes on here. Here is your opportunity to inject new blood into the forum. Ya gotta start somewhere!!!.
For me I continued working on my tiger. I painted on the numbers and added some decals. Photos are great modeling tools. They seem to focus on things that sometimes you don't see with the naked eye. I am always able to pick out something that needs a little work.
First picture shows the access points. Second picture shows my DBU mount, and the tank commander modified to plug into the DBU socket, when the DBU is not in use.

What is that DBU socket on the turret, and what plugs into it, besides the tank commander? Awesome tank, by the way. Your access points, do the covers just sit on them? I was thinking of moving my main board around, and making a hatch that opens for an access point, but I'm not quite sure how to make it operational (ie open and close.)

A DBU is an IR sensing unit for IR tank battling

I have metal hatches and hinges on order, but they haven't arrived yet. For now I have turned the hatches into a socket. I do this by gluing some thin scenic foam on the underside of the hatch. The O.D. of the foam is slightly larger then the ID of the hatch opening. Because the foam compresses you gently push down and turn on the hatch and the foam"threads" into the opening, holding the hatches firm. It works so well I may not add the hinges when they get here. I can't really run the tank with the hatches open as the switchs are clearly visable, so I may just stick with this bullet proof method. Nothing to get broken!!!!.

Nice Tiger,. I was wondering about the socket connecting the TC to his hatch....if he blinks his eyes or drags on a cigar via fiberoptics
Nice camo location for the switch.

Your tanks looking very cool YHR, and that's a great idea for the TC, pattoncommander. If you have been reading my build you know what I've been doing last week, if not here is the path to it and a couple of pics to add to this weeks SNFF 0203. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7003543/tm.htm

Is this a late '43 Tiger when the 501st was reconstituted?
I don't know much about the DBU, can the tank commander be modified to hold its components?

You could line up the IR sensors with the slits in the cupola. Inside the hatch a combination of super bright, White, Red and amber LEDs could simulate an interior explosion. Trouble is on a bright day at distance, they probably couldn't be seen and that would be problematic for IR battling.
You know Radio shack put out a lazer tag set that caused a motor to spin and vibrate. Maybe a little page motor could be use to make the commander spin when hit. I have an unbuilt BDU. Maybe a small pager motor can be used in place of one of the LEDs to give an animated response to being hit.

Very innovative with the commander, and it does give us a glimpse into where we can go with this in the near furture! Great work Thanks for sharing!

This weekend I got to spend a few hours working on my Panzer III. After browsing hundreds of pictures I decided that I wanted a rear rack on my tank, so I built one from styrene.
I finished my stowage box and mounted it on the rear of my turret, finished my mantlet and gun assembly and mounted it, and am working on the stowage boxes. The boxes that came with the Panzer I thought were too small, so using sheet styrene I am enlarging them.
Thats all for this week!

Trying to get my cheap faulty-ass airbrush to work properly, it refuses to work on anything but high-pressure and at a downwards angle... no fun!!

roger that. I dislike air brushes for that reason. Unless you use them constantly and apply muuuucho maintenance to them, they all hang up and become problems. At the museum I use one for 2 months daily and it worked OK, but just to use it once and then and have it sit, to me, is problems. Very nice AA track. Is that 1;35?

I like the rack on the rear. What do you intend to put on it? I've seen a similar model that gave me the thought, was that your inspiration?
I'm still waiting for my Heng Long Pantiger![sm=71_71.gif]
I've been working on my Pz III too. I'd like some feedback on how mine looks please? I've applied the wear & tear and thinking about weathering.
I'm trying to make my own pigments for weathering. So far I've collected some soot and crushed some terracotta pot bits, looks like rust at the moment.

Yep, Tamiya 1/35. It's a SdKfz 7/2 aka 8-ton Armored Cab Semi-track w/3.7cm Flak 37. Nice kit, very sinister looking

I like it.

If you mean the rack on my Panzer III... I have quite a few books now on the Panzer and find in most photos that the tanks have some sort of rack that is welded on in the field. Many times it it just a few peices of steel welded onto the hull. The explanation given is with so little storage room inside the tank and in the turret stowage they needed some way to keep personal goods/food/more ammunition/water, etc. I currently am building a few boxes to ride back there along with some captured US jerry cans. I figure the more lived in I can make the tank look the better. My tent rolls and blankets are still a work in progress.
Your PIII looks great! Its a bit shiney, but some dust and weathering will take care of that. I like how you stacked your roadwheels, and the gear stowage is great. Keep it up!

That'll be why I've seen the rack before. It's something I'd like to do also.
My stowage is still embryonic as I'm not that happy with it all yet. Just when I think I've got it I see a better example
The 'wool blankets' are small pieces of cotton cloth soaked over night in a very dilute solution of Field Grey and then left to dry.
I'm not happy with how I have them mounted but I don't think I'm far away from what I want.
Yep it's a shiney tank alright, looks more like 'precious metal' than 'heavy metal'[:@][:@]
I'm trying to dull it down but am unsure how. I've read a lot about applying a 'Dullcoat' but I don't know what that is, apart from being half my wardrobe that is
I'm sure I've read somewhere about applying a mix of diluted PVA + not sure what.
Thanks for the info

hi generaljumbo congrats on a smart PZIII
"dullcoat" is basically a matt/satin varnish applied after decals and weathering to seal in the "look" and stop grubby oily fingers messing with the finish

A bottle of JOHNSON'S KLEAR floor polish for wood floors does a good job as well[X(]

got some work done on my T34 build at last
Didn't like the aftermarket metal gear set so opted for the new PZIII gearboxes for the stug conv
a lot easier to install than i first thought and more free space on top than the Heng long box conv
you can catch the rest here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6854686/tm.htm

heres the rack I built for my ausf G removing the stowage box cost me the elevation, but it looks more authentic this way. Tried to stay close the the photos and it gave me a good, early G.
