Hi Sfstu
never use heat in an electric motor, you'll damage the magnets.
Best tool for pinion removal is ......a pinion puller:

971wright has given a good mounting guide.
I lock my e-planes geared motor pinions with Loctite 638, but any retainer compound should work. With the small torques our tank motor develop, if the pinion fits tight then the retainer is not mandatory but it is advisable to put a small drop.
Hope it helps

a little warnig super glue does not like heat anything above 150 degrees c and it is useless so if you do put some on do not put it on the gear if you put it on the frozen shaft it may be alright

I use a [link=http://cgi.ebay.com/Miniature-Wheel-Gear-Puller-Tool_W0QQitemZ250206227613QQihZ015QQcategoryZ10029 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem]gear puller[/link] like this. Pretty cheap and easy!
