Is a IR system-A-IR system-or is there a difference

I was wondering if the little stock out of ther box 1/24 tanks with their IR systems can knock out the biger scale tanks. Is this possible
or are the systems used for the bigger scale battling tanks set up different and not affected by the IR signal from these tanks.

P.S. Be kind of fun to knock out a 1/16 scale Tamiya or HL with one of these little guys---

The carrier signal needs to be the same. All IR signals are not the same. My old Lazer tag sets have no effect on the Tamiya signal

Was wondering after pulling the uper part out of one of those little 15 dollar 1/24 scale tanks (the hit lights, power light, and the little mirror reflector that receives the signal from the opossing tank).Re-installed this back into a semi-scratch built upper hull, and don't know how any of the other's work for sure. But the one I re-installed still works after putting it in the other hull.Very easy to do----

Thanks for the reply.
I was thinking with all the different IR tanks on the market and they like to copy each other that one of them may have used the same signal device that would also be affective with what Tamiya uses.I know with universal TV remotes they have the ability to change over and match many different brands of TV's.Thought so many guys have such a varity of tanks that they may have allready tested for this, but have never seen any comments about it.I did see a comment on someone trying a lazer light on one that did not apear to have any effect on them. I was reading a little write up from a hacker who explains how to copy the wave files from a IR signal and load it into an iPOD as a wave file, stick a remote IR device in the headphone jack of the iPOD and you can blast anything using that wave length and it would be very hard for someone to know what was going on. NO,I'm trying to figure out if the cheap tanks can do battle with the bigger scale guys with-out trying to convert them to a more expensive and room consumming up-grades.Also to leave them with their original speed and not affect their original board which may not even accept what is on the current market.Got an idea that might work in my bigger scale tanks also that I might play around with.Just an idea at this point but what I'm thinking about might just work for what I want.I like to experiment with some of this stuff, keeps and old guy busy.It is ammazing some of the information you can find on the internet.
