It is on the right side, pretty much even with the back end of the turret.(not the stowage boxes) .

Yes that looks good. I just moved mine the other day. There is a perfect overhead shot in one of the Tigers in Combat books that shows the exact location. The distance from the engine grate in YHR's pic looks perfect. but you must make sure it is the correct distance from the side of the hull. The antenna should just about touch the stowage bins as the turret rotates. If you are doing a HL Tiger the distance from the edge of the rear grate to the center is 10mm, and the side from the edge of the upper hull is 8.6mm. If you are using the original brass antenna mount, it will just be touching the right side of the tow cable.

To make your antenna look a bit better. Cut off the top section making it about 16-17mm long, and then mesure the amount you cut off. Add that amount to your inner antenna wire with some extra wire. This is done so you dont have rx range problems. You can cut two teeth in the turret ring gear as well, so as to get full rotation. You can do this with an Exacto knife and a file.

So what happens when the rotating gun hits the antenna?

if it's electric primer, while the antenna is laying on the gun tube, the radio operator can piss off the gunner and TC by keying the mike and fire the gun
The gun will simply push it out of the way.

yes I believe they had flexible coils or rubber sections at their bases and would spring back up
