Default difficulty in choosing the right tank

[]
uhhm excuse me guys but I need some advice on which tank to buy... because im buying a HL tank this week or so... and for now maybe I only have buget for one. [&o]

I have red all the reviews and it seems like all tanks i mean pershing, and tiger I is OK but im kind'a mixed up in choosing my first 1:16 tank because in my country the only available are the S&S Snow Leopard and the Non S&S Tiger I...

And another thing that contradicts to my mind is the price difference and the features, I like the tiger I's look, but I also like the pershings look and features. please Help

But most of all probably Ill take the Grey Tiger I. but im worried if the suspension and the tracks is durable cauze I read some negative and positive comments on those.

and another thing I haven't seen any picture or instructions on how to dismantle the turret if I were to remove the red LED to any of these Tanks or drill a hole on the snow leopard to make a mg hole besides the big 90 mm gun.

oh and before I forgot is rechargeable AA Battery Advisable to use on the controls?

Thanks in advance...

If your budget is limited, get the Snow Leopard. The electronics are far superior and enjoyable. In addition, the tracks and suspension are more reliable then the Tiger (as in real life) so you'll have less maintenance to perform then the Tiger. Except for a couple of guys, most of us break plastic Tiger tracks on a regular basis, they need metal tracks. Don't buy any non-smoke and sound tank thinking you're going to save some money or that you don't want the features, EVERYBODY upgrades to smoke and sound unless its a parts tank.

I haven't tried using rechargeable batteries on the controller. It requires 8 of course, and I can get that many alkaline ones for $2.

Most chargers will only take 4 cells at a time, good reliable rechargeables are relatively expensive and so are fast chargers. You have to spend quite a lot, before you can even think of savings. At first, I would avoid possible trouble and save time by using fresh alkalines. If you have any problems -- at least you know the controller batteries are OK.

well thanks for the Advice Guys and whew that was a relief...

I like the Tiger I's Broad Tracks but now I know the S&S pershing's better.

the Pershing is indeed a Good Looking Tank in every angle but the thing is i dont find lots or I find only a few of it's war Records and History especialy the Old photo's the one thing I should be looking for for inspiration. Unlike The Tiger I There are so many including antique Pictures and the restoration of it in bovington tank museum and others...

it's nice to have questions getting comments thinking I only have my Wife comment on this and at the same time doesnt have any interest on it...

P.s I wish I could see tutorial with pics on how to disassemble the pershings Turret to drill a hole that it is lacking or missing...[&o]

anyone have an idea on the pershing if I remove the red led attached to the turret, in just where possibly I can transfer it on?

and another thing i dint find in forums is... where to solder the heatsink,or a small fan.?

can I use the acrylic spray paint that is sold on most hardwares I mean the one who's purpose is for motorcycles, some appliances,(toys?)etc.?

sorry for the so many questions but I think it will be quite informing others who also have this in mind.

Lastly is the white Star Sticker and so on Included on the Snow Leopard or you just have to paint it yourself?

TY[:-]

All of your questions have been asked and answered on the forum within the last 6 months and before. Check out my tank builds, especially the M26A1 and Walker BullDog.

IF you have a digital camera use it to take picutres as you disassemble the tank. This will be a guide to help you get it back together.

You just need to roll your sleeves up and go in there. In my opinion that is the best way to have fun with these. Nothing to complex about the mechanics, it's just the wiring that can trip you up.

Yeah you defo want the S&S version. I was very tempted by the prices of the basic versions, but you WLL upgrade anyway. It's better for the 10-speed control if nothing else.

Yes, DO NOT get the non-S&S, the Pershing is a great tank and to get a non-S&S Tiger instead is crazy. S&S allows you to go where you want, as fast or slow as you want - while non-S&S just screams around really abruptly.

Many thanks to all

You should be able to buy an S&S Tiger 1 unless it's just the dealer you are dealing with that doesn't have the S&S Tiger1. As for heatsink and fans if the S&S tank comes with the rx14 main board you shouldn't need them

well any known video showing the 2 speed example? (fast, veryfast)

just to watch if it will do fine if I buy them.

here in philippines the cost of the 1:16 S&S is 3,800 pesos(PHP) and the non S&S is 2,600 pesos.
is the price range reasonable enough? anyone?[:-]

Well thats about $95.00 U.S. dollars for the S&S tank and $65.00 U.S. dollars for the Non S&S tank.I guess it would be what you call reasonable. Here in the states I would call $95.00 dollars for a S&S tank a little on the high side. The S&S tank here sells for about the price of what you will pay for a Non S&S tank over there in the P.I. BIGMIG

P.S. I think the current peso rate is just a little over 40 pesos for isang dollar di ba.

yeah youre right it's about 40.033. in the last update of the exchange rate.

and hey, you know a little tagalog? hmmm...[X(]

so are you saying that it's still ok to get the S&S Version ?

cause im relying on about 75% comments alone and 25% my own descision hehehe.

like "darth" said we only have two or three of the HL models here in PH it's the Non S&S Tiger I,no S&S Panther, and the S&S Snow Leopard. []

Hello Mad Scientist,
If the NON Smoke and Sound is avaible to you at a price you can afford they are still fun.One problem being I don't know any place that sells the non S&S board if you need to replace your's if it goes bad,but you can still up-grade to a S&S version although it would be costly for you to do so.It is much better to pay the additional cost at the start, you get a lot better tank and the parts are available for them if ever needed. uhu, thanks BIGMIG. I phone call the store and they said that if some problem occurrs then they will repair it for free, seems like a warranty or something. I wish they have a Tiger I with S&S that should solve it cause I want a Tiger I Chasis and upper Hull but then the S&S is in the pershing one.

Maybe Ill get the Pershing then get the Tiger I if I have enough funds to get it later on.

Thanks

Hello Mad Scientist X,
I was wondering what all scales of tanks do they sell there, are you in Metro Manila.Do they sell any of the cheaper models that are the 1/24 scale size.Kind of like to know what all they sell there and some of the prices. My wife has family in Olongapo and I was thinking about sending a few of the older kids a couple of tanks in a Balek bayan Box,that is the cheap way to send larger items to the P.I.--Its a flat rate and no weight restrictions, anything you can fit in the box.Only thing is it takes about 6 weeks to get there.
If you have the chance to see what they sell there and prices let me know if you would please. Reguards BIGMIG
