Default Easy Eight rebuild

My first Tamiya tank has been around the block a few times. It ends up being the club loaner at our battle days and I really wanted it to be more of or looker and runner than it has been. I modeled it after a 37th tank battalion easy eight and now have taken back for an over haul. It will get new electronics, recoil, turret, hatches and maybe even tracks. Schumo metal part have been ordered and I have begun the tear down.

where did you get the T-23 turret with oval loader's hatch? Both mine are Nick's with th split finger chopper. I's like to get one with a later model.

Its a old Elite armor from BYA. Basically a hand me down. I started by attaching a Pershing Recoil mount to the back of the mantlet and making a few adjustments so it would fit. Next came the barrel to the recoil unit and a few precision adjustments had it working in no time. There was elevation already built in from the previous owner so two evenings work and I have elevation and recoil. Time to shorten cables and make a tidy tank. Oh yeah, I put the emitter in the barrel this time. Fighting from cover is the way to go.

Thanks...looks like these turrets then, are made of "unobtainium". Thinking of geting a Pershing turret (if I can find one) and refitting the loaders hatch onto my new T-23. Got to have a later model, like one of mine.

Well, you can always buy the Tamiya M4 turret (alot cheaper) and use that oval loaders hatch. Or, you can contact the group [link=http://www.tankace.org/]A.C.E.[/link] to ask Tiff Williams for one of his T-23 turrets (like I am using on my M4A1E8) that does use the oval loaders hatch.

I have a Tamiya Sherman stock turret that I took parts from (and do not need) for my T-23 turret work in progress Easy 8 build.

The loaders hatch is mounted but in good condition and you are welcome to it if you go the scratch build route.

If you want the part email me your address and PayPal or send me a check for postage and it is yours.

Tank functional. Recoil works, elevation works, traverse good to go! Began cosmetic surface details such as tool brackets and stowage. Added the applique armor and tidied up the interior. Painted resin and metal parts and added an on off switch bracket built from sheet styrene.

This tank has been rebuilt again and is in progress to make the next battle as a totally refurbished and updated battler. It is also the subject of my latest DAK LABs video. Now approaching its 21st Birthday, the tank has battled over 100 times and has been used as a trainer and loaner tank so often many of the western tankers have seen this tank too much! Enjoy the video.
