Hi guys just to let you know ive been tinkering around for the last 2 weeks trying to get my tiger1 to shoot bbs and recoil .Im at mk62 i have a functioning bb with recoil but still havnt solved all the problems, every time i get one problem sorted another crops up wish i had a camera here to show it my grandkid as taken it to America and wont be back till the weekend.Ok ive got it to fire bb and recoil also sorted out the bb feed. last problem is the elevation this is giving me a headache cant get the standard one in not got room any one got any ideas? my mind keeps thinking servo but i need it to travel all in one direction sail winch would be to fast and a standard servo to big just how big are microservos and how strong are they any advice would be of help

Hi pete
that is gonna be a toughey
If you are using the stock H/long electronics and you say there isn't enough room for the elevation motor
at the back then the only method i can think of at the moment is to use a servo with the electronics and potentiometer removed to give you a motor and gearbox and put the cam/gear out of the H/long elevation motor on the servo this may give you enough room to fit it
Here's a link to how i did my re-coil but didnt keep the BB function as it hurt my head doing the re-coil
so good on you for keeping the BB function as well cant wait to see the finished job http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_63...upgrade/tm.htm

hi thanks for reply fv432. the problem is ive moved the pivot point of the gun to the mantel where it should be the standard unit dosnt have enougth travel now i need about 29 mm if it is fitted at the rear and there is not much room left anywhere else because of microswitches and servo to opperate the recoil plus cutting to give room for it to travel without hitting. I keep thinking of a servo mounted horizontaly with a cam of some discription with a peg to raise and lower but it has to move slowly and this where i need the advice how to make a servo move slow.Im a retired aircraft engineer not a eletromagician anything i cant see i dont understand i think the mechanics will work its the electrics do i put in resistors if so which ones or is it trial&error

some one once told me eletrics are like hydraulics it works very much the same way but when i push hydraulic fluid up a pipe i can see what happens eletromagians spend all day shoving an invisible force up a solid pipe

Have you looked at the new airsoft units from Toy East for the little 1/24 tanks? They have the elevation unit mounted to the turret ring under a new, more compact airsoft unit. Let me see if I have some pictures....
Yep, Here ya go:

might be old news but have you guys seen this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EukSC3l_6M emailed them and they said february for sure on the release of the tanks. I ordered alot of stuff and always liked the price and quality. very anxious to see the bulldog model they are doing. it says around 200 bucks thats a pretty decent price. dont know if that includes shipping and handling but all the stuff i ordered in the past was free shipping. also they said their website is just about done.

Hi 971,
Could you fit in a Tamiya gun elevation gearbox?.........this is much smaller than the HL
and works at a nice slow pace.......worked on my HL panther turret mods........I tried the Servo lark and it worked but was far too quick and slowing it down via a resistor lost all the torque.......

hi pattonrocked45 yes ive seen the you tube before thats what got me going along with creeping death saying it will be out next week i think that was last may.
captainbertie im trying the servo at the moment will have to see no i hadnt thought off a tamiya unit the reason is i thought it needed two channels to operate one up and one down ive never seen one so i dont no if they operate in a single cycle i.e.go up then down it might solve my problem as i say been playing with a servo and bellcrank today its is just about in needs a bit more fiddling and give it a a go it may be up and down like a brides nightie will have to see. thanks for your input its great to bounce ideas about lets you look at the problem from a differant angle
best regards pete

darkith its a motor and gear box tried a standard servo but to big to fit in so before i spent money buying a micro servo and then stripping the insides out i wanted to get it to work. that done the mechanics work just got to slow it down to the correct speed for elevation i.e.dead slow now you being one of them electomagicians, couldyou tell me if its posible the motor and gearbox came from the steering of a r/c car made in china of course the motor looks the same as the traverse motor fitted in the heng longs .thanks for the reply look forward to hearing from you

Hi 971,
Nope...you could power it off a battery.....I put mine in my Panther turret with HL electronics and linked the crank to the gun elevation.....the smaller turret meant I had no choice really but it works.......check out axels-modellbau for spares......
Cheers

the secret is the mico switch on the side when the bb cylinder comes back to the point of firing it activates the mico switch which turns the servo just slightly which allows the gun to recoil that opens a second micoswitch that turns the servo back to the normal postion sub min servo for elevation

also the sharpe eyed will notice i had to move the turret ring back about 5mm to give me clearance when the gun recoils it now pivots where it should ie the mantel just a few things to iron out bb feed sticks a bit nothing new there then the drive ring to sort out by the way the turret i was going to scrap be cause the person who had it before me panited it with a tar brush you should see the body might have to scrap if i cant get the paint off
