Hi bigkilla
I have both of the tanks you are thinking about and............
I think the Pershing sounds the best of all the Tamiya Tanks, it clanks away while you run it, and the faster you run the faster the clankin!! It also has lights, and a rev function when you first start it up. Its a pretty straight forward build and you dont really need any extras for it. Just try to keep all youre cables nice and tidy, there isnt much room in there.
The King Tiger took a LOT of tinkering to get it working properly. And I added a few bits and peices ie. metal track etc. (more money!!) But it does look cool....
The KT has two different start up sounds, electric and manual, but no lights or rev.
Any vids you might see dont really do the sounds of any of the Tamiya stuff justice, so try and see one in real life.
All in all I bought my Pershing first and never caused me any build or running problems. My second build was the KT and it was an expensive nightmare!! But the KT is my favorite of all my tanks.
You decide!!

Hello Bigkilla, Building a 1/16 Tamiya RC Tank is so immersive, fulfilling and addictive such that you are likely to end up wanting more. It does not really matter which one you choose to build first as you will certainly be building the other one soon and maybe more. I agree with Albert, the Pershing does sound better but the KT looks meaner and is likewise my favorite (built 3 KT's among my currently 10 Tamiyas).

I would start with a Sherman as a first tank. That was the first one I purchased and built. It was very easy to go together ,and it is practically bulletproof. I was going to get the tiger 1, but being my first tamiya tank build and it was cheaper. I figured I give it a try first before I get a tiger 1. And i just got finished building the tiger and that is running great. I hoped this helped in your decision.[sm=biggrin.gif]

Get the one you like the best. [sm=thumbs_up.gif]
The Pershing is a better engineered kit and a little more complex needing some experience with R/C and the King Tiger is much easier to build but the tracks and their tension can give you some difficulties when driving in grass or a non-slip surface.
The rev feature of the Pershing is fun but you must remember how to disengage that when you want to start moving the tank. Also, the interior room is limited in the Pershing so making space while you're building is important.
You'll like both!
