The I/R on the stug works off up left stick so first let me confirm that. Second it works by closing the circuit during gun recoil to fire the I/R. If your not even getting the gun to recoil then your not getting power to the process. I would recheck the solder joints for the wires involved since sometimes they look soldered but it's not done well enough. Then i would check and make sure all the plugs are snugly in the RX18 and facing the correct way. If all of that is fine then it's time to start checking with a volt meter and see where the power is dead.
Oh you can also manualy push the recoil in to close the circuit and test it that way. That will at least tell you if the flash works with power. Tank needs to be on obviously to try it though and the recoil needs to be in it's full resting position.

Your recoil could be there are actualy 3 wires that need to be open on the side of the recoil gun, if any 3 are touching then it will not work! The 3 wires that connect to the metal tabs are close together but should not be touching!

Can you take a pic, then maybe me or someone can catch what is going on? And have you tried another radio, its probably not that but it could be?

If its all working when you manually trigger it by pushing in the barrel then maybe its a connnection on the RX18. Oh you could check your trim on the radio too. It could be set too low and not registering up far enough when you push up. With it all working manually there really cant be anything loose on the tank side. so i would check your left stick up trim and see if thats causing the radio to not trigger it. If not check the CN9 plug since i believe thats the plug that registers the upstick to fire the barrel which triggers the recoil/I/R process.

That small baord was probably the reciever which would match perfectly to your problem. Unless it was a really small baord in which case it was one of the power blocks keeping the CN9 from trigering the upstick command fom the remote.
Cool, glad you got it fixed! One thing you can say about heng longs is thier pretty straight forward to fix.
