ready to show my pershing some love
Ok im getting a little worn out on painting and stuff on my german armor and would like to give some attention to my pershing. The first thing i need to do is get rid of that awful shiny plastic look and was looking for some advice about wether i should just repaint, or dull coat or maybe even just a simple blackwash to tone it down? Also i was wondering if there are any glaring historical corrections i should make or any major areas to pay attention to for weathering or detailing.
I know it seems like im being a little lazy, but this place is such a huge resource that im kind of stupid if i dont try and take advantage of it

Hi'
If you do nothing else you've GOT to re-paint it. There are a few things that need changing if you plan to make a WW2 pershing, I'll leave that to the more informed members to guide you on that!
regards
Frank

I definatly see that it makes a giant difference from seeing yours. It must be quite a bit of work though. Did you diassemble yours entirely to paint? even things like takig the road wheels off?

I removed the upper hull and took the turret off and sprayed them as seperate pieces. The wheels are nightmare to remove so I left these on. I then put everything back together to weather.

Frank I agree with you with the road wheels!
Fynsdad how did you remove the skirts off the Pershing? I wanted to do that too but I am too careful that I might ruin it..

I didnt notice your side skirts were missing until Dongskie pointed it out. I'm assuming thats one of the items on the list of adjustments in timewarping the pershing back to WWII. This is what i'd like to do for sure so anyone chiming in with other items i would be appreciated. Meanwhile i'll be searching for past threads about it.

Search for threads from Pattoncommander, he is the resident expert on Pershings. You could PM him also. Also, check out the Pershings in the gallery and on YouTube. I just ordered one today from RC Command, so Im in the same boat as you...just a few days behind.

Nogoer
Most of the photos I've seen of WW2 pershings still have the side-guards in place. As my pershing is of no particular era or vehicle I cut them off because I like the look of the tank with-out them!
Dongskie
I removed the skirts with a razor saw along the faint seam along the hull.

Fleshpedler, Pattoncommander is going to give you a slap on the wrist for all that rust on the treads! He says no rust on tracks unless its a poorly maintained museum tank. Just joking around(he does say that though) I hope my Pershing turns out half as good as yours. I should have it in my greedy little hands later this week.
