EXTRA Channels

I am ordering some extra crystals and a question about capacitance came up. Do I need Futaba, or Airtronics crystals?????? Apparently it makes a difference. I found a supplier for seven more channels for 27 MHz Fm radios, but I need to find out about this capacitance issue.

Not for Heng long right, they won't work! RCCommand has channel 5, 6, & 7 and one of the Euro sites has 8, 9 & 10

Yes for the Heng Long boards. I am trying to find out if Futaba or Airtronics 27MHz FM crystals will work in a Heng Long radio.

I would say no. most radios have for some reason speciffic crystals. Futabas wont work with HL radios.

Airtronics won't work either, we have been down this road before, but go ahead and give it a try if you don't want to take my word for it!

Well if people have actualy tried 27 MHz FM crystal from Futaba and Airtonics and they don't work then I don't need to go down that road. I just want to be sure we are talking the same thing here. Many people on this forum thought Heng long used AM crystals, which they don't.

Ya when I first got into the hobby I tried this, and others guys have tried! Habbico Redhawks crystals 27 FM has some that worked, but they stopped making them![>:]
But Heng long has now started doing their own, so at least we have 10 channels now! But for me the more I work with the DBCRC2,, it seems the way to go eventually for all my tanks that have the Heng long electronics in them!

The ones I am looking for are European 27MHZ crystals that are not avialable in NA. That is why I thought they would wok. I thought it was a political issue, not a technical one, but perhaps there is more to it then that.

The supplier sent me a couple of crystals to try, and I am happy to report they work fine in a Heng long radio. I now have seven different frequencies, and just ordered another five from this same supplier. I will now have 12 different 27 MHZ fm crystals.

As soon as I have verified for myself all the new ones work, I will post the supplier's(actually a manufacturer) email, so everyone else can order them as well. He sent me channel 7 27.125Mhz, and it was fine, but I want to be sure the rest work as well.
I had actually given up, because the consensus here was they would not work. However this showed up in the mail yesterday as a free sample to try. SO I did and the new channel worked fine in the Heng long radio's. Good thing the supplier followed through.

The reason that only 7 channels were available for the USA is that several of the "banned" ones are CB Radio frequencies. I have heard that the Futaba ones will work. Of course I know the Hobbico Red Hawk do too! Looking forward to your link for more channels. Thanks for working on this.

We had a function at the junction, and I got a S type mailed to me by mistake. I returned them and am waiting on the F type. As soon as I have verified that both the crystals and the supplier are 100% good, I will be sure to post all the details.
Sorry for the time this is taking. I sat on the wrong crystals for about three weeks before I shipped them back. So far the supplier has been great and even sent out the crystal(althought they were the wrong ones) before I had even sent any money his way.)
Once we get this all squared up, I 'll be sure to report.

REMOVE THE COVER ON A CHANNEL 2 CRYSTAL FROM A HL RADIO AND YOU WILL FIND IT IS 14 MHZ AND SOME ARE 13 MHZ I HAVE SOME OF THEM AND TRAXXAS CRYSTALS WORK IN HL
i have metioned this to bill at rccommand and he checked some of his and found the same thing so be carefull some channel 2 radios will only use the 14 and 13 mhz crystals
