While awaiting the arrival of my new Tiger barrel. I had some time to detail TIGER 1334. So now it is late and I have one more tiny clamp to put on the turret storage box.
Ahh finally it is on. The last clamp made from the last parts on the PE fret. So being proud of this really great detail I proceed down stairs to show the wife.
Oh the horror when I watch as that last little clamp spins off into the abyss of the carpet!!!!
After a half hour on hands and knees, my hunny bunny suggests we replace the bag in the vaccum and see if we can find it by vaccuming the carpet. Well another half hour later and having gone through the bag. I did not find it. So I vaccumed again with the wife suggesting places where the clamp could have gone.
Soon I have vaccumed the entire carpet twice. I knew something was wrong when she then suggested I get the carpet steamer.
I knew I had been had!! To add injury to insult, I then found my clamp between the laces of the shoes I was wearing.
All is well now. The carpet is spotless and I have my clamp.

Did you ever try the "CSI" method for finding a tiny dropped part?
The Iron Dahlia has a roll of clear vinyl packing tape about 3" wide. When I lose something in/on the carpet, I SOS her at once. She cuts off a long strip of tape and proceeds to carefully "lift" everything in and around my work area. Works 90 per cent of the time. The best thing about using this approach? No "delicate" pieces get chewed up in the Hoover!
Who says TV isn't "educational" ?
