track tensioners on Panzer III
are they really necessary? I dont really want to have to start hacking at the lower hull. I've finally started doing my Panzer III up.
this is all thats left at the moment!
and after priming ready for repainting

Never fitted my tensioning kit and Herman has had about 6 hours running now. But hey, if it's in bits anyhow?

RE: track tensioners on Panzer III
it all depends. Sometimes you will find the tracks are way to tight and it affects the performance of the tank and over stresses the motors and electronics. However adding an extra track link makes the tracks too loose and they tend to come off around sharp corners. When you encounter this situation you should have the flexibility to adjust the track tension. If your'e tracks have some play then there is no need to the adjustment.
