Default 3:1 gear question.

Is there any soldering involved when installing a 3:1 gear box into a RX-14 board?

if I recall you can either solder the motor wires or use the 2 prong plugs (the 3:1 from RCCommand comes with plugs)

Does the Rx-14 accomodate the plugs?

Yes, the older RX13 are the only boards that require soldering. The RX14 has the plugs, or you could solder if you choose to...

Sweet guys thanks!

How much more power do you notice after switching to 3:1 gears?

I don't have them installed in mine yet, but what are you looking to accomplish with them Freddi? It's not necessarily more power, but more torque and a more scale speed. I'm still waiting on RCCommand to get the 3:1 steel gears. Bill said they should be in soon. I don't know the price yet, but should be a lot quieter than the standard metal gears

Nice Tiger Ern, I can really see the more realistic movement of the 3:1.
