Default Question about WWII Tiger Tanks

I was wondering if late in the war Tigers would be seen with early model components ? As an example, an early body Tiger with late model road wheels.

Hear you go gov feast your mince pies on this, chassis has zimmerit and is either an early or mid chassis note the cable layout which would be typical for either early or early mid Tiger latte mid Tigers had revised cable layout, turret is early with Panzer IV stowage box and large muzzle break the turret may not be the original for this chassis, also note the white wash paint this Tiger was destroyed by the crew in Poland

Hi Rivetcounter

Not seen these pis before. Do you have any more info on the tank as I have enough bits left over from other projects to build this one and details of the unit etc will maybe help to work out the colours and markings.

cheers

Gorehound, I will have to do a bit of digging around to see if the unit was known other than that the sky is the limit on what you do as these Tigers where built from tanks that had been returned to the factory so you could do anything early hull late turret zimmerit on the mantle and nowhere else there are very few pictures of these cut N shut Tigers these two are the only ones I know of for this particular tank one particular battle group was "Kampfgruppe Fehrmann" he commanded 6 Tigers that where all built from parts

Thanks all for the info and for the help rivercounter. I am aware of the Fehrmann Tigers and have built these in 1:35th over the years but I do not recall their Tigers having the Pz III\IV turret bins. I like to build ones I know were accurate as I am a a rivetcounter to heart - perhaps like yourself given your nickname

cheers

Rivetcounters we are this is what I found out the Tiger was pictured in Czestochowa/Poland 1945 and belonged to sPzAbt 424 the hull defiantly was early and had zimmerite cant tell if the turret did http://www.tiif.de/thread.php?thread...71dc39412f5208 look at the bottom of the treads there are two more pictures of this Tiger as you know these tanks where built with what they had hence the PzIV stowage bin others may not have had any, if I find anymore pictures of hydride Tigers I will let you know but this one will keep you busy for a while

That is great, thanks again. I am really keen to build one of these now to use up the last of my spare parts. I was just going to get rid of the bits but now I can make something of them.

cheers
