ive been pointed in the direction of testors for a soviet green i would still like a tam match as there paints are very cheap compared to testors especilly when it takes about 3-4 jars to cover a decent sized tank
another paint question btw anyone know of a good acylic thinner, aside from tamiyas own? i can only find tams in dinky bottles

You can use straight water to dilute Tamiya acrylic paints. you dont have too use thier fancy thinner, witch is almost all alcohol anyway. And why does it take 3 or 4 jars of paint to paint one tank. I usually get atleast 3 paint jobs from on 3/4 once jar of Tamiya paint. I allways airbrush though. I could see using more paint if your use an actuall paint brush, but that still sounds like a lot of paint.

wouldnt using water as a thinner effect the adhesion of the paint?
bit of an exageration in amounts [sm=red_smile.gif]i used between 2-1.5 jars for my jag and most of that ended up everwere else in tests and for this job i only had one jar on my airbrush so i had to pour out the paint a clean to change color i will order some more airbrush jars before my next paint job i like to have 3 jars of paint for the larger area just to cover my ass as im new to airbrushing
if tam thinner is mostly a alcohol would medical alcohol work?

Here is one I painted with Krylon camo from the local autoparts store. Standard spray can. Adheres excellent to the red oxide primer they sell as well. Save a tone of money. I'm tired of spending $30 for Tamiya paints for one tank.

Guys, guys...
Acrylics? Dollar Stores or Michaels. They often have a large selection, and a 2oz jar is a buck (or no more than 2.69 at Michaels) and diluted can be run thru an airbrush with ease.
Never mind that it says for fabrics or whatever, acrylic paint is acrylic paint. And if you're mixing colors... its MUCH cheaper.
sniggering at people ignoring the obvious sources...
