I finally finished. I modified the hull MG to move. What a challenge. It was jealous of the Tiger1Also reworked the recoil unit I did months ago to have a snappier recoil. Here is a vid of it in the backyard. I played around with MS movie maker to give it an old feel. Not the best, really didn't work out, but oh well. Hope you like it and tell me what you think.

MEGA WOW!
I have seen a lot of Model Tank videos, but this is the first one I have seen that actually sent fear up my spine. When that KT came around the bend I could just imagine what US troops thought in the Bulge, when that big bad whamma jamma headed thier way.
Great work!
Oh and how do you do the moving MG?

Tailend,
Looking at the video, seems the landscaping in the backgraound has been taking a beating while you're working on your hobby. LOL. I live in Cameron Park (east of Sacramento) and in the recent heat wave a few weeks ago I lost some plants in the 100+ degree weather. And I don't even have the excuse of working on my tank hobby,

Hey Tailend,
Very nice man,, I have had ideas to get the machine gun to rotate but you did it, very cool! Hopefully I can see it in person at the SCAT Battle day!

He used a Tx with knobs and a servo with a wire moving the mg just turn the knob right or left and the mg moves that way .

Thanks guys for the comments. Worked hard on the MG mod. Wasn't as easy on the KT as the Tiger1, but Bolman thinks so. He forgot to mention how to get the Tamiya (molded) MG to move.
Anyways as for the plants as you know here in Calif. we are on water rationing, so it was either the plants or the kids pool. Guess who won.
Hopefully Blitz we will be there. Won't know until Friday.
I will try and get pics together of the mods and post.

Very nice job. You've got a unique tank there. A+++ for making the mg move. Many people don't know that the Tamiya KT's bow mg doesn't articulate (same goes for the Panther and JP). Tiger does have a movable bow mg though.
Good job.
Good job.

OK, I haven't forgot you guys. I just was working on other mods and thought I would show them all at once and get your opinion. Well the first pic is of the modified recoil gear. Moved the pin to give it a faster release when firing. Second pic is of the final assembly. I used fv432 UK form members mod to beef it up. Really stopped the bracket from bending under the fast recoil.
Now the hull MG. I used WeCoHe's Panther metal hull MG and cut I down to fit inside the KT MG housing and then filled it with epoxy to get what you see. The rest is self explanatory. The servo, wire and how it is hooked up.
The next one is almost done. I took grim_marmazet from the UK form advise and put a MG in the turret and used a modified version of his switch set up. Used to switch between hull and turret MG's remotely. I used a micro switch with a bent servo arm to brush the switch. Instead of a toggle switch and wire. Less movement of parts.
I got tired of disconnecting so many wires when removing the hull or turret so I combined all the wires into one connector. Makes if faster, neater and less drag on the turret for rotation.
The last thing so far is since I put the MG in the turret I had to keep the emitter on the barrel so to make it look clean I drilled a hole in the barrel and ran the wires inside. So now we have minimal view of the emitter.
I also installed micro switches to stop the gun when it reaches full travel both directions.
So there it is. My little contribution. I hope you like and can use them. Any questions or comments please feel free let me know.

Hey thanks Richard!
Do you have anymore pics of the support for the Tamiya recoil? It looks like he took a small piece of metal tubbing and just slid it behind the existing bracket or are the rails going through the tubbing as well? The gear mod looks self explanitory,, but I guess yo don't want to shave too many teeth off or you sunk! One more question what is the micro switch that you added wired to,, the same spot of the forward Tamiya micro switch?
Thanks,
Phil

Hey Phil no problem.
The brass plate is for holding the recoil spring. The slide rods go through the tubes. Drill out the slider to 4mm and insert the tubes. This was a great idea he came up with. Takes the slop out and reinforces the slider. Which micro switch. The one on the servo, it controls which MG I want to fire and the ones in the turret control where the main gun stops. No more chicken head bobbing.

And I haven't been on the forums for a couple of weeks. I need to catch up. Now I could be taking this the wrong way and if so then forget what I said. But anyway yes those are great ideas and tips kudos to your work.Sincerely Wade

OK finished with the KT wiring. Everything is wired with disconnects so I don't have to touch the MFU wiring. It also makes it easier to remove the turret or hull. Here's a pic.
Also finished the MG's. Here's a short vid of it in action. A fun little mod to have.
