Default Where do I find these gearboxes?

Does anyone know of a US vendor that carries these gearboxes? The 3:1's with bearings on the driveshaft and a brass reduction gear? I have found these to be the best of all the 3:1's in my opinion. I know Asiatam has them but I am looking for a US vendor.
Thanks,
Perry

Hey Perry the 3-1 gearbox can be made and it's not hard to do. The gear box by Bubbajoexx is a nice peice of work. go to www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8142064/tm.htm and go down the page to babbajoexx. 2 of my tanks have the home made gear box.

I have done this mod myself also. It does work well, but the tank speed is greatly reduced to the point that it is way out of scale. You will need faster turning motors for these boxes. The 3:1 boxes your looking for have the black cap motors which turn faster than the white caps so this makes up for the lost speed.

Hey John,
Yes I know all about that. I started making 3:1 gearboxes years ago and posting the info here on this forum long before Bubbajoe was a member. See this thread.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_59...tm.htm#5969325

I don't say this in a snooty way and in no means am I disparaging Bubba's contributions here. I often see my and others ideas recycled, and usually improved upon. Not a fan of 'I invented it first' people anyway

The reason I am inquiring about these specific gearboxes because they have a brass gear, actual bearings, and a thicker gauge steel than the HL's. All those add up to make the best 3:1 gearbox I can find. I have 3:1's in all my tanks (10). If I can buy more of these it's just easier. THe last set was about $70 from Blueslatesman.

RCcommand and RC tankwars don't have these. At least on their website. Besides, the last 3:1's I ordered from RC command took 3 months and never came. He doesn't have them. Had to cancel the order.

Perry S

I can get them,, but it will take a month,, eveything I order from Germany has been taking at least 3 weeks lately not sure if customs is holding everything or just Germany's shipping method? $70.00 sounds reasoniable if you want them plus $ 7.00 to ship to Canada!

Thanks Perry a nice design and I agree the HL gear boxes are poor. The problem I have with some of the metal gears, is the gears like to wobble up and down. The shaft is not centered on the gear. You don't get much for what you pay for. I wish I had the money to replace all my gear boxes
I put 2 cross braces on all my gear boxes. One brace in the middle and other behind the motors.

Phil,

I might be interested in the same type of gear box from Asiatam for my Pz III and STug III. Haven't cracked open the KV-1 yet to decide what I want to do there.

Nope checked, I can sell these for $68.00 if a few of you are interested, and that is not making much, any lower then that its just not worth paying the shipping costs!

They are very tempting though, my source has them avialible for the KV-1 and as far as I know, no one else has these for the KV-1 yet?

RCCommand does list those gear boxes as instock. They are the actuall Asiatam boxes with the heavy wall housings. The ones in your pictures have the standard HL steel housings, so i'm not really sure what your looking for. The boxes Bill has listed also have the bearings on the main output shaft like the ones you show.

Correction !. They are listed as out of stock. My mistake. But he does list them on the site. he must have to special order them just like Phil. I know there has been problems for everyone with importing everything.
