Never seen this type. Anyone have a clue? Not a 38, not a PZ 1....interesting.

I think it's a PzKw 35t 1935 - Czech LT-35 Light Tank

Cheers

Thanks John!

Looks like it to me also. Funny how Germany went from having to use other nations tanks to building tanks like the Tigers.

I like the 38, and now the 53 has my eye.

They are Czech Pz 35Ts. Mid 1930's about equal to the Italian 13/40 Semovente....same basic suspension. Carried a 37mm and 2 MGs, . 4 man crew, weight about 15 tons. Mechanicaly reliable sardine can.

Don, Germany used a lot of captured stuff in the early 1940s to support the Pz I and IIs. Skoda had a very favorable reputation in the late 30s, especially with the 37mm main gun and the Wehrmacht used a lot of the 35 and 38Ts. After the Poland campaign when sufficient Pz IIIs were available, these very light skinned tanks were relegated mainly to support of occupation and guard ("Wache") units. It would be an interesting tank to build up from a Pz III chassis, but the suspension system would be a real chore.

The Germans were still using captured tanks like these later in the war for policing cities.
