Default Trouble Shooting!

Hey Fellas!

Ayone out there had problems with the ole TIGERs, you know that no matter what you do your late version wheels just will not behave?

I figured it out! So maybe this will help. If you have installed the aftermarket reinforcing plates you might want to take them out and check for rubbing on the axels. That was my problem. As the arms went up and down (or tried to) they were being forced against the plates. This would cause the arm to flex just enough to throw the tracks.

What I did was use a moto-tool to grind out a clearence area on the plates that allow the axel free movement. I also found that some of the axels had actually been bent due to the action against the plate, and two ofthe plastic inner roadwheels had stress cracks.

Now after three hours testing, TIGER 304 runs like dream.

It was my expierience with my Tiger that even with the metal arms and reinforcing plates there was just too much flex of the system, Even with the stock plastic wheels. It was even worse once I installed metal tracks. I dont know what HL could do just short of adopting the Asiatam /Tamiya suspention system. I would gladly pay more for these models if they were to come with that type of metal lower hull and real torsion bars. It really is the only cure for all these type of problems.

Oh I agree 100%. This was just an idea for those of us who modified thier Kitty before the really good stuff came out.

I think this hobby is still so new that the popularity shocked companies, vendors, and even we treadheads. If you think about it the hobby has really advanced in just one year.

This time last year I had the lasest Elmod. Now it is a dinosaur. This time last year a recoil was rare. Who would have thought about torsion bars in a HL? I think companies will have to improve or die off.

So yep they are too flimsey for most purposes, they are a pain the rear to work on, they break down or just break, the soldering was done by angry third graders serving detention, but I love'em.
