Default The Shermans are in at Mato

I just ordered a couple of Shermans from the Mato website. I little bit more pricey then a Heng long, but less money then the King tiger.

We are very pleased to announce that we will now be accepting Pre-Orders for this tank that in a very integral part of history. Mato is proud to be the exclusive producer of this 1:16 Scale Air soft Tank. This project commenced by you making the suggestions, and Mato taking it seriously. Pre-Order Now! We will ship your tank October.26,2009.
Not quite in yet. More like just cleared Customs. Alot of people will be glad that they're taking preorders and set a specific shipping date.

Whoever gets one in first, make sure to take a picture of the logos on the box and the instructions for me

Yes Chinito, at the moment they're preorders, which will be shipped out on the 26th according to the store's website.

I would presume due to the dates, that they came into the west coast of the US, cleared customs and are being trucked to Canada now(I'm sure some got left in Mato's California warehouse). Based on my trucking experience, that date is about right for something that just cleared customs and is headed for somewhere around central/eastern Canada with a bit of time for paperwork/inventory processing.

*Ninja edit Yeah, Mato's canada address in in eastern Canada

One coming my way, now let the mods and upgrades begin. Should be an interesting winter with all the new Sherman builds.

They arrived in Vancouver a week ago, so I am pretty hopeful that Mato will be shipping on the day noted. They got burned by a rail strike once, and they probably already have them in hand to give a confirmed date like that.

My enthusiasm for tanks had waned so much they haven't budged off the shelf since we moved. Been building and flying model rockets but now, wheewwwy baby! All fired up now! Gotta get some new bottles of Xtracrylix Olive Drab.

Good thing my library is full of books on Sherman tanks! Wouldn't want to be competing with you guys on ebay! LOL

what would be most obvious change to make on this tank other than the barrel. How long and thick should it be to look more to scale?

The gun tube shouldn't be too far out of scale. I seem to remember the base being 14mm and the muzzle about 11mm to be scale. That was a long time ago and the details are fuzzy.

The gun shield should be more rounded on the sides. The prototype was perfect but those computer guys had their own ideas and wouldn't change it.

I used the wrong gun-ring hatch, the D69993 instead of the D94598 which is low profile so the TC can see over the hatch through his visor windows! Firenick got it right with his resin upgrade. Maybe they'll drop in for use on these Shermans? I'm sure we can also mod them to drop down lower too. Unless they changed the design, the hatch rotates and is functional.

The differential cover is over-size to accomodate an existing gearbox design. Future releases that utilize the E6480 and E4186 differential covers will also get the new gearbox under development. This one is about scale for the Jumbo (C7067389), protruding slightly past the tracks.

There might be some other minor points, won't know until we get our mitts on them.

What fun would these things be if we didn't have anything to "fix"?

I know it may be impossible to answer this question since we haven't seen the final tank (well, most of haven't anyway). But is there an existing aftermarket hull and turret set to convert this tank into a Firefly?

I've seen some sweet conversions off the Tamiya Sherman, but this Mato version with the correct chassis is just BEGGING to be upgunned and sent out to hunt German cats.

Any info and or links would be welcomed!

Very exciting...

M4s and M4A4s were converted to Firefly's. There is one in the works for a future release.

The first release will be airsoft only.

You could try what I did... http://web.mac.com/ethandunsford/DAK...refly_Ic_.html

Cutting the plastic might be easier than the resin... Late M4A1 cast hulls were not used as Fireflies.

For those that endeavor to learn all the variations and detail differences of the Tiger and PZIII for example, you aint seen nothing yet once the Sherman bug hits! One could build hundreds of Shermans with no 2 looking alike!

It's really great to see the Sherman out. Where can I get some Canadian decals? Prefer the 8th Canadian Hussars New Brunswick Regiment!
