Can any one tell me, does the Ir version come with barrel recoil ? Also, There was a rumor that its ir might be compatible with the tam system. Or is this just more wishful thinking.

There's a rumor out there that the IR system in work for the new Mato Sherman may be Tamiya compatible
Mato website says "THE GUN BARREL CAN TELESCOPIC AND FLASH". Telescopic in this case translates to recoil.

Not yet SCAT. Haven't been involved in that part of the project for a while, our focus shifted elsewhere.

Just noticed it at Mato's site. Yummy. I just got my Jagd this week and will be busy working on her until the Panther is released. One of these days I'll get a Sherman...

Your M4 would be better fighting there equals the Panzer IV and Stug III these are the tanks they most frequently engaged and you could also take pictures or make films of your M4’s fighting Panzer IV and put captions on like “our boys take on Tigers” just like they did in WWII

Steve,

I hope the "Tamiya compatibility" is fair to the Tamiya owners of our club. Will be interesting to see how it performs with the big boys.

Are you sure about that rivetcounter? I've seen an awful lot of photos of knocked out Panthers in American areas and read about the battles. Seems the Panther to PZIV ratio was about the same, the PZIIIs as rare as Tigers if not more so.

I think the 76mm guns, both the Firefly and the later American Shermans accounted well for itself, against everything it shot at.

By the time the allies reached Europe the Panther was just as widley used as the PzIV. In 44 and 45 more Panthers were produced then PzIV's so theM4's were just as likely to run into Panthers as they would PzIV's (depending on how unlucky they were that day.)

according to my 88 yr old patient which is a normandy WWII vet (normandy and belgium) during normandy with thier early sherman.. they tend to came cross with markIV and panthers.. but took them 3 shermans to destroy one markIV or panther but rarely on tigers for they would move back and call on the air strike.. and they only saw few markIII tanks.. after france they engage more panthers than markIV and tigers..

Heng Long's website shows a picture of the new Panther:
so does this mean they have to correct road wheels now? just not a refabed tiger 1?

The new ones are built using the Jagdpanther hull, not the Pantiger mutant.
