Backyard armor is no longer in business, you can get the Heng Long Witmann Tiger I at Tankzone:

Thank you. But, is there a website in the U.S. that sells the Whitman Tiger I?

Ok thank you.

I also like the metal edition KV-1 tank for $472.00 USD!! WOW, quite a large defense expense there. Ya, I just did the Euro conversion.
I hope that Hen Long will produce a Soviet T-34/76 or 85 version soon. It seems that they are following Tamiya's production of the KV series or vice versa.

Hit up Phil from rctankwars.com [email protected] , or Bill from rccommand.com. [email protected] or [email protected]
I am sure either of them can help you out, if your gonna spend the money to get a whitman edition done up, may want to have at least the metal hull from the get go

Thanks.
Well that is too bad that BackYard Armor went under. When did that happen?? I really enjoyed their tanks. I really liked the sound of the incoming rounds several seconds after you had loged on. The first time I did log on, I had my volume up and it scared the s**t out of me! I took cover under the desk. I really liked their 1/6 metal alloy tanks and was hoping to see a T-34 in that series. Wounder what happened to all the tanks they never sold especially the 1/6 tanks and all the parts?

Yeah, the website was really cool and I too loved the sound effects. It was one of the first I ever ordered from but, sometimes things never stay the same and they went out of business.

The 1/6 Tanks are actually 1/8 and are not made by Back Yard Armour they are made in Hong Kong by I believe Kenny Kong and if you wanted one they would have come direct from Honkers, BYA never kept a stock of them, I believe you can also order these from Tank Zone again they don’t keep a stock of these tanks and will again come direct from Honkers.

The correct spelling for “Whitman” is “Wittmann” this will help with a Google search

Yes! That was it. Kenny Kong. But they never said that the tanks came from overseas. It sounded, from their ad in their website, that Kenny Kong was working in their shop in the U.S..
Michael "Wittmann" thanks for the spelling check! I should have known better.

I'm an r/c airplane guy but I do looooove r/c tanks too!

As a side bar. I hope Tamyia or Hen Long will come out with a 1/16 scale Russian t-34/76. The new Hen Long special metal edition stuff coming out now look pretty much high end stuff? Are they on the same level as or close to a 1/16 Tamyia tank now?

Just think of what politicians say before an election and then look at what they say once elected, two completely different storeys and once elected they will totally deny saying what they did in the first place, think “Tony Blaire” no sane company is going to keep several multi thousand $dollar tanks on stock hence the 12+ weeks waiting time not in the US when people say $160 Sherman is expensive

As for the Heng Long special edition stuff they still have a long way to go before they are on a par with Tamiya

I agree. Same s**t in the states. I thought so about the Hen Long special ed. tanks. I rather spend a grand for a better hobby grade tank where I can learn as I go about its functions as I do the build!
Tamiya is the best . Maybe kyosho will develop some 1/16 WWII tanks since there is still a strong market in the r/c tank world.
Check out what this Russian guy has at www.interdacom.ru/~tanks BIG 1/6 tanks but made from fiberglass with 2X600 watt motors.

Woops! dont bother. I just checked this site and I guess he is also now out of business.! His name was Alex Shlakheter from Volgograd Russia. He made the 1/6 r/c tanks that looked real nice but this was four years ago the last time I visited his site. Sorry!

Unfortunately, Alex passed on earlier this year. Don't know about the company, as he WAS the company.

Oh no. My prayers go out to his family. I had chatted with him about four or five years ago about either a Panther or T-34/85. Trying to decide on which one performed best in snow. He always said that his T-34 does best in the snow.
He had sent me a dvd showing off all his tanks in action.

This past winter? What happened?

Alex Shlakhter of Volgograd Russia. This was another great legend of Raido Control, just like Chris Chianelli. Like Chris, Alex improved and advanced the r/c hobby for all of us.

It does not matter what happened, suffice it to say he is gone. No sense in dragging it out again, and besides, unless you read cyrillic and thoroughly understand Russia and Russian, you will get nothing from the info available.
This is a different world here, and while he was far north of me, I also live in what was, and will be again, a part of Russia, so I understand it reasonably well.

Backyard armor is no longer in business...
Darn, I miss all the stories of 9 month delivery times.

I fail to see the humor in unsuspecting tankers getting taken for a ride. [sm=thumbs_down.gif] Especially hard earned cash.

I think I still have a $25 outstanding order from them. I eventually bought that piece off etoarmour, because I wanted to finish my build during the winter holiday.
