Mato will be stocking them. This is a WSN produced model I understand. You know the T-34 guys.
I thought it was a Matorro? or is that one in the same as WSN?

Cheers,
Wade
Trumpeter Body, Matorro guts. T-34 was also Trumpeter Body, but "WSN" :guts.... .

I think Mato will bring it in, but it will be awhile. Matorro has the inside track on WSN releases. You could pay european prices and order it from Welsh Dragon Models. They ship as fast as anyone. For some reason the Europeans tend to pay higher prices for these things then us North American's are prepared to. I think Mato thinks the price will scare people off so are not in a hurry to stock it. So questions as to when they are going to be getting them might get them here sooner.

[&o] Price could be a sticking point ..."Static" Trumpeter M16 kit alone can go for $200+ on EvilBay.. And Mato seems to like stocking items retailing under $200 [&o]

All,
I sent Mato an email and they answered that they will carry it, but don't have an availibilty date yet ( sound familier, just like the Sherman) Maybe they are waiting for the manufacturer to get the price down. That international price could be from the Europeans taxing the s**t out of everything to pay for their social programs( look out, the way things are going, we may not be able to afford tanks anymore either) Anyway, there is a good point to the delayed release, it will allow me to save up for the Panther G ( just what do I do with my reworked Pantiger ).

Question sent to Mato Toys:

Reference: Torro M16 Half Track.
Hello, Please consider importing this new rc model and I will buy one now. Thank you, John Ackerman

Reply from Mato Toys today:

Dear John,

Thank you for your email.

Currently, there is no news for the R/C 1/16 M16 half track truck when it will be released. Please keep visiting our website for news updates.

When we release it, we will inform you ASAP.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any question. We are glad to help you.

Sincerely

Customer Service
Mato Toys International Inc.

AND from Welsh Dragon Models this response:

Hi John,

I have no plans to stock this at the moment.

I'm not sure if there are any dealers in the US who will have it, I think Torro in Germany have distribution rights.

Check out their website www.torro-shop.de

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas,

Best Regards, Steve

Thanks John. I thought Welshdragon models was carrying it. My mistake. Maybe it was Forgebear????

I talked to Mato about this some time ago, and Matorro has the inside track on the WSN stuff. This is when I learned that Matorro is not Mato. I had always assumed Matorro was the European arm of Mato. I was wrong. They know of each other very well, but there is a line.

The guys in Europe can't get hold of the Sherman either. Maybe Mato and Matorro working together to not flood too much too soon?????????????? Perhaps a NA release of the halftrack would hurt Sherman sales, and the release of the Sherman in Europe would effect Halftrack sales??????Wild speculation on my part, but maybe.

Everything I have heard though is that it is not a matter of if on the Halftrack, it is just a matter of when

Thank you for the update about the delay on the M4 Half Track reaching North America. The cost in Europe is about twice what the Mato Sherman is going for, but the same cost as all those rtr rc buggies and rtr rc nitro monster trucks the kids destroyed over the years. John

I "borrowed" these images from the Axel's Modellbau site and they report that it is a very good RTR model out of the box though fast.

It appears that it's only rear wheel drive, looks good otherwise.

Hey Folks !

I`m afraid I could not wait till Phil or Bill or Mato got this Toro 1/16th scale RC HalfTrack in stock, and ordered it from torro-shop.de. The good news is that Toro-shop lists this HT for
179.00 EUR, but only charged me 150.42 EUR. The bad news is that this price does not
include shipping, and I`m now waiting for the torro-shop Guys to figure out what that shipping cost is going to be. For You trivia fans, 150.42 cost me $232 & change in Canadian Dollars.
I hope You all had a great Christmas and will have a great 2010 !
Barry

The leaf springs are not functioning, but each wheel has a small vertical indipendent spring suspension inside the steer articulation, therefore the front wheels are not completely stuck.
I have just finished dismounting mine down to the electronics. Unfortunately I could not find the quartz crystal inside the model, while the one in the transmitter is clearly visible.
The turret is the masterpiece of this model though, with its infinite 360° rotation ability.

Some pictures from the dismounting:

I was just thinking that an intuitive person could modify the leaf springs from the Tamiya 1/14th King hauler to replace those non functioning plastic ones. (Or, fabricate their own)

It was the first thing that hit me when I was looking at those photographs. After all, what fun is keeping something bone stock?!

Hey Borealis

Thanks for posting the pics......Are You having problems with Rx/Tx ??? I just ordered one of these HalfTracks so I`m really hoping there is nothing wrong with yours, and it works like a fine Swiss watch, and you are only taking it apart for painting or some mod, or You are just one of those overly curious types that has to take everything apart to see what makes them tick. lol

Mine worked perfectly, was just curious to see if it was possible to change its working frequency (to have two M16s running at a time) and if there was any room for improvements (such as adding the engine sound or a battlesystem of some sort). El-mod has had a 'work in progress' unit for half tracks for some months, and maybe some day they could finish it. EVen SGS-elektronik has a full option unit for half tracks.

I just took a better picture of the board. At first I tought it was the small crystal in the middle, but on the transmitter there is an identical one, plus the frequency one.
Hope someone can help
