Maybe you can make a relief cover just a few milimeters thick of the pershings drivemotor, but that will a lot of work but can be done, you leave it out when you ride your panzer and when you show it in the shelf you put it in

Here's a shot of the engine I did for our museum cut-away. To have an operational RC tank, you won't be able to make it look authentic unless you have a way to mold a 3D thin insert and even at that, I really don't think the end result would look all that good. There's not enough space to build in what you would need. That Torquematic tranny would be a bear to make. In front of it, on both sides of the huge radiator, were two oil coolers with pulleys and 16 fan belts.(under that flat armor plate). Unless you are making a static display, I'd leave the engine/tranny grilles closed. If you could get hold of a static WSN T-34, it may be possible to use some parts that do look "somewhat similar", but... My engine was made from a block of balsa and some 1;35 car engine parts. Not exact, but pretty close for the display I needed in a hurry. Opening one set on one side and making a hinge would be great for installing the on-off switch. My M-46 is set up like that. Hope this helps.

Great work with opening the engine hatches. How did you do the hinges? Is that brass work or did you drill through the existing plastic moldings?

Hi

I used two upper hulls, a dremel, files, kraft knife and track pins.

Cut the hatches out of the other hull, ground down and drilled holes in the hinges with the dremel.

Then cut out the holes on the tank, ground off the excess, drilled through the pivit with the dremel.

Tidied it all up with the files, all nice and neat

cut down the track pins to size and slipped them in.

the track pins have a rough end so they stay in.

Get yourself an 1mm drill bit it's great for all kinds of things.

some great ideas chaps

Thanks

Jon

Nicely done. Gonna fabricate some handles from brass wire?

That is awesome nice work! I am gonna have to try this. As for the engine maybe print a photo on card stock and attach it to the inside of the hull?

Great work on those hatches. man, I know how tedious of a job it is to make a working hatch...
