Okay here we go:
There are three models of the TIGER 1: Early, Mid, and Late.
I have figured there are also three versions of the Heng Long Tiger 1
Early had the RX-13, no smoke, no sound
Mid had the RX-14, smoke sound
Late has RX-18, IR, smoke, sound, bow MG.
So............
I have a early model of the early Tiger that I want to make into a late Tiger. So I have the parts from the mid Tiger and the early Tiger that can be formed into the late Tiger. Using the best of the mid tiger and again upgrading the early tiger to the mid tiger will also help in building the late tiger from the early tiger. Many part from the early and mid tiger stay the same on the late tiger. However some ofthe mid tiger items could be used on the late tiger and are not on the early tiger.
Now if I wanted to make a mid tiger then I could indeed use parts from the late tiger although it would be not be a late tiger but a mid tiger with late tiger parts, and some early tiger items.
Also if you wanted an early tiger you could also use the parts form the mid tiger and retain the early tiger parts while building an early tiger, and the early tiger would be even better with the late tiger parts.
The beauty of it all is all the features could be used for a late early or mid tiger, so and early tiger need not stay an early tiger but can be a early tiger.
I think I have it straight now......any questions>

There was an "initial production" version of the Tiger that was issued to the 502nd, 501st and a couple to the 503rd. These Tigers have a great many detail differences from the production versions.
Heng Long's first Tiger produced circa 2003 had the TK01 board and no mounts for the smoke and sound equipment. They also had multi-colored gears and brass colored drive shafts and the high speed black capped Suntechs. Later versions had hull reinforcements, mounts for the smoke and sound equipment and white gears with chrome plated shafts.
Correlating the real ones with the Heng Long doesn't really work. If anything Heng Long backdated the latest Tigers when they added straps to the sides of the rear bin.
