Default Newbie Dumb question

Hi guys - I have built 1 PANZER III now (HL) and posted it here awhile ago for your help (thanks again for all your wonderful tips and comments). I am almost finished my PANTHER (TAMIYA), while I have a KV on roder!!!! You guys are BAd for feeding me a new addiction

I have a dumb question. Do I need to buy entirely new transmitters and receivers, or can I simply switch the receivers around between the two tanks and avoid buying new transmitters for each tank? Sorry for the dumb question.

The HL pz III and KV-1 can share the same Tx ( making sure the crystals in the tank and in the tx are the same ), unless you convert the Tamiya to use HL electronics it will need a different Tx/Rx ( I use a Spektrum DX6 for mine ).

Thanks ARMCHAIRGENERAL! Sorry but I was unclear. The HL PANZER III I have has its own stock transmitter and reciever. I bought a FUTABA 4WD for the Panther and though I could switch the receiver around and use it for my new TAMIYA KV. Possible?

You could swap the receiver around, but wouldn't it be easier to just get a receiver for each Tamiya tank? That way you can go back and forth between tanks without fuss.

Thanks Chris. Thats what I had in mind but a couple of my local RC stores siad ity is easier to buy the whole transmitter as - according to them - the receivers are already the majority of the cost. Hmmm - sound fishy? Where can I buy spare AM Futaba 4 channel receivers?

EBay, eBay, eBay! I've bought receivers off eBay for my Futaba that I use with my 4x4's for $25 with shipping! I even bought two from one seller....ended up to cost me $30 for both with the shipping. But be sure you know a spot on Google to check out the specs on the receivers - Futaba has systems that run 27Mhz and 75 MHz in both AM and FM, then there's the 2.4GHz.... But it's worth the extra "legwork". I know what the RC stores are getting at - they have better markup on the sets than the receivers alone, so the receivers are 3/4 of the price of the set. Same with the HL IR upgrade....Mato sells the upgrade for $66, but without the transmitter it's $55- only $10 different!

just some friendly advice. try to stay away from AM radios and recievers. the FM systems are much better and the 4fy Skysport is an FM 75 Mgh radio. Man more channels to choose from and much better range.
