Default Help on the Mato Sherman

Hi All,
I need some help. I took apart my mato Sherman to do the turret lowering mod that YHR did. As I took the lower and upper turret apart. some wires came loose ( lousy soldering job). I have all the wires back in place except for the airsoft gun wires ( two black and a blue and a brown wire. I tried what I thought would be the logical hook up and as soon as I turned the tank on, I had smoke from the board. What I really need is a pic of the wirering inside the turret so I can replace the wires correctly and hope I haven't permenatly fried the board. All Help will be appreciated.

Ouch. Letting the smoke out is usually fatal.

What tank functions do you still have.?

YHR,
I have all other functions, just no airsoft gun? Still would like a pic of the inside turret to see where all the wires go. I may have fried the airsoft function already, just don't know until I find out how to wire it correctly. Your turret mod does make a world of difference. Even if I don't get airsoft back, still glad I made the mod. Thanks.

Well if all you loose is the airsoft function consider yourself lucky. I fried my Tamiya MFU trying to get the Heng long recoil to fire from it. I lost the up function on the BBl elevation. Luckily I have a Heng Long cam in it so now it functions like A heng Long. I have to cycle the cam to get the bbl to go up and down, but it is still basically functional. I quit experimenting before I cooked something else that would make the case terminal.

So you are not alone at having the odd failure or two!!!!!!

I ripped out the airsoft guns on my two Shermans so I have nothing to go by. Hopefully someone can post a picture of the stock wiring. I took pictures, but I failed to get a shot of the turret wiring, so I am coming up empty..

Hey YHR, I'm having a buddy of mine machine a new outer barrel sleave to cover the airsoft tube. it should help make the barrel look more too scale without just using the gun tube. when I get it i'll post some pics too see what you guys think, and if it looks good maybe have him machine some extras for anyone who would like to try it. Yeah my black wire from the micro switch came lose too, fortunately i can tell where it gets soldered back to. So far thats my biggest complaint poor solder work.

I slid a brass tube over the airsoft bbl to return the length to normal and give it a slightly bigger diameter. It looks OK. I'll grab a picture and post it. First picture shows just the airsoft tube, and the second one shows a brass tube fitted over the bbl

Hey don't let that stop you. Some of these troubles occur when the model is taken apart. There are Shermans here that are working just fine out of the box and not having any issues.

All,
First of all, I agree with Snowtank. My Sherm was working perfectly. It wasn't until I took it apart to make some mods the I ran into the wiring problem.
Hdbeast, thanks so much for the pics. with your help as well as help from YHR, I know have my airsoft back working. I was amazed, even after the smoke from wrong connections. As soon as I had the wires connected properly and turned it on, She shot. That should say a little bit about the robustness of the electronics. I was over joyed when everything still worked, but now I still have my airsoft. Thanks guys. And now I'm after the cat. Just kidding.

Yhr,
Oh boy do you know the drill. I had to hear how I just bought it for so many$$$'s etc. Thank goodness it works and the wife saw it too. Maybe I can get that new Panther after all??? Thanks again for all your help as well as the pics from HD Beast. The turret mod makes all the difference in looks also.
