Default Panther in the Snow

Well I have been fooling around with a new video camera and some software. I haven't done much work with video, and I have a lot of learning to do. Hopefully over time I can pick up the quality of the content and deliver something worth watching!!!!!!!

Bare with me as I explore this media. I don't know about you but I hate waiting for HD videos to download, especailly when the technology exceeds the material if you know what I mean. I found a setting that keeps the files to about 8 MB a minute, and that is what I am going to stick with for now.

My latest Tank is the Heng Long Panther. Here it is in action.

Oh Wow!!!! Now that is great stuff! The Panther and the Filming were top notch. Is it just me or does snow and German Tanks seem to go together?

Brother that one shot about half way through where the tank is climbing the small knoll. Looked like it was from a color documentry.

What are you talking about? You DONT need to work on your video skills. THIS IS GREAT! Thank you for sharing! You must have "water-proofed" your vehicle? NEAT! Also the painting on your Panther is superbe.

PS - But that snow does not look that real though. - Harvey

You should use your new video editing software to make it more slow motion. Way to many hurky jerky movements to look real.

Yes, this Panther still has the stock transmission. I have a 3:1 mato gearbox for it, but I ordered the wrong one and am waiting on the right output shafts to arrive. With the 3:1 gears things will improve greatly. Of course I don't need to tell you that, as I think we both agree it is the single best improvement you can make on a Heng Long tank. Protects your board from being exposed to stalled motors and removes all the jerky movement. Sometime today I will post another video showing my old Panther with the lower gear ratio IMO forget the metal tub and a suspension pieces if you haven't upgraded the transmission to a 3:1 yet. OH ya they also help out on that cheesy heng long recoil, and you get a less pronouced Jerk

Now that's an awesome looking tank! Very nice video!

Never really paid much attention to the Panther G when looking for my first tank. Had I seen this before my purchase, this may have indeed swayed me. But, that tank will likely be my for 3rd forsure! I want the Panzer III next. I am so determined to mod a working flamethrower on the PIII. I may be jumping ahead of my skill level, but with help, I'll get it done!

Anyhow, great work on the custom paint job, got any better pics of it?

Wow, now that is some impressive work.

I love the realism you've created down to the hand painted numbers, (which I'm sure most tanks of that era didn't have stenciled markings or maybe they did?)
Looks like you've even added texture to the undercoat. Did you use the epoxy/mineral spirit technique? Moving piece of art it is, simply magnificent job!

I think they did use stencils. I have sanded and applied more weatheirng since then, so the numbers are looking a little sharper then in those pictures. On the video it show how they look now.

Thanks for the comments. It was a group effort as forum members helped me with some pointers to get it to where it is.

As you are getting into it, you cut it. Just like a producer leaving you hanging for the sequel. Nice job!

Yeah i was going to comment on the HL tank jerk recoil. You make a good point, the 3:1's do help out alot with this action. I really dont know why HL still has this function. Nobody wants it, do they? The video looks great. The Panther did pretty well in stock trim in that snow.

Did you ever mention about adding resistors to slow down the turret rotation? If so, what resistor value did you use?

Yes I used a resister to slow the turret rotation down. 22 ohm I think.
