Default gearboxes

can anyone tell me how long a replacement metal gearbox is expected to last? My Tigers shredded one in the past, so I replaced them both, now its done it again! I'm wondering if the brass 3 to 1 ones would last longer.

mate, your gear box stuffed, could it due to lack of mainatance, or lack of quality selection, or too much tension on gears...

I use tamiya gear box plus home made 3 in 1 reduction. I play hardcore like anyone else. But I have to admit I did a slight mods on the bushings to the gear box. So it has been 4 years so far, I play on sand as no one else would do.... Its tough.....

here is some of my videos......

I suspect its the question of quality. I get my gearboxes off ebay which will probably set alarm bells off with members. I'm not sure its actually damaged the gearbox now, I ran it around and it seems to be fine so no idea what happened before, it made a rather nasty noise but it could have been the track slipping on a stone I guess.

If the gearbox gets trashed again I shall invest in some quality 3 to 1 boxes.
