Another Abrams upgrade!

This one is all HE Abrams top & bottom hull, using the HE suspension. Kenny Kong Abrams metal
tracks & drive sprockets! Some suspension changes that needed to be made, I fabricated some spacers
that are needed for the drive wheels to keep the track from sliding side to side. (Gregg on the forum is
working on a spacer set for this problem and will be much better then my solution) I used the Panzer III
metal track rollers for the top rollers! I had to buy some screws from Home Depot and turn them
into the longer axles. This gave me the reach I needed so they would work correctly as top track guides. The Gearbox is
the Heng long Jagdpanther/PantherG gearbox, with standard HL engines. I had to make some custom
sleeves to go over the axles and lock them down to the side of the hull for strength.
The Electronics are EL MOD with the Abrams sounds custom installed. This set up uses 2 small TangBan speakers, the one in the hull is a little more bass and there is one in the turret, that is full range.

Thanks guys for the compliments, this is the second one that I have converted, and Phillpat if you remember I used that hull on my first build, its way to pricey! I am getting more ideas every time on how to make it better! I am going to have the guy who makes my mounting plate make one for this tank, it does need some hull strengthening!

I can't wait to get Panther G road wheel spcers in, then we will post a picture of them and how they install, unless you have some pictures now Gregg?

What do you guys think about the Tank Commander moving, with the gun elevation, does it look corny or what is your opinion, I can take it??

Below is a little mod I did to the headlights, they come stock red, so I changed them to white and shave the LED flat so they look a little more realistic!

Blitz, I didn't remember you using that hull on the first one, but it looks way too expensive. Is it really just the lower hull they sell for the HE upper? But, what you did looks good.

The commander moving was a little gimmicky, but if it's easy, you'd may as well do it because the kids will love it. Now...to make it airsoft instead of IR...

Any concerns when grinding down the LEDs? I might do that on a couple of my tanks.

Go a head and send me an e-mail to my [email protected] account, because I am normally not online here! the e-mail is always faster and it may have just been a day where I received 30 in an hour or something?

On the LED's as long as you do not cut down to the metal inside and leave at least 2 mm they seen to be doing fine! I have done it on a few other tanks as well, like the KV-1 and it looks much better!

On the Abrams, airsoft would be tricky really not much room up in the turret, but I have been partnering with some good guys lately that compliment my skill maybe its time to come up with a high power airsoft gun[sm=idea.gif]

Yes i have some pics of the original set on my LEO2A5, The sets I have now are made of black Delrin plastic not the white.

Phil, please tell me you have gotten the spacers. You should have had them days ago. Let me know as soon as possible and I will find out what happened. If you did not receive them, I'll send another set.

The last picture is of the spacer for the road wheels and the sprocket is from a Tamiya LEO2A6. The aluminum adapter I made lets you use the Tamiya LEO tracks and sprockets. Any one who has seen a LEO knows you cant just use any gearbox with LEO tracks. This spacer which I can have made available lets you use the Tamiya sprocket and tracks.  The best solution for an Abrams is the Kenny Kong Abrams tracks and sprockets although much more money than the Tamiya parts.

I never received the parts, they did not show up! I would really like to have a look at them or use them in my next build!

Your T-34 is making progress,, I got slowed down again getting a batch of battle sytems built this weekend but I should be done by Wednesday!
