First of all, trust me there is method in my maddness.
Does anyone have a picture or know how a panzer crewman would hold a cigarette. I have found some pictures that show the cigarette held between the middle and ring finger, open palm to the face.
Whilst (My New Word) Americans seemed to have held it in the thumb and middle finger
Russians and British held it between the first and middle finger.
I know this is a silly, minute detail, but if I'm going to do it...I will do it right.
Yep 3 hours searching for ways guys smoked 60 years ago[&:]

I did not think so either, but after looking a many pictures I found that maybe there is.
Hanging out the mouth would be good however I was hoping the act of the tanker bringing the cigarette to his mouth then watching it glow would be a real hoot.
I have one of the heads ready. Talk about creepy! I hollowed it just a bit too thin and when the LED comes on it shines through his eyes. Kinda looks like Satan. I'll have to paint the inside of the head black so it does not look like something from Amityville.

Sweet idea, can't wait to see this! I was going to add a glowing cig hanging from the mouth of the SS-cavalry static model that I'm working on, but I figure it didn't fit the "stereotype" if you will. When I think of cigarettes during WWII, I think of the popular coined phrase, "smokem if ya gottem." Therefore I'll reserve that for a US figure. I was just going to do this the easy way and use a strand of fiber optics ran through his body out his mouth.

Blatantly flaunting regulations and german cigarette smoking protocol these wehrmacht soldiers ran the risk of being sent to punishment battalions if repeatedly found by their CO to be holding cigarettes the "American Way"
Smoking would be by personal preference, there was no national way to smoke cigarettes.

I think it has more to do with if they thought there was a sniper around. A glowing cig would be a ripe target, so usually it was pinched between forefinger and thumb with the hand covering the end - see the Band of Brothers series as one reference (Dale Dye's outfit takes great pain's to train actors to behave like real soldiers), and I also have a few ex-services friends who smoke(d) the same way.

That last pic was how all the Kastapo agents seemed to hold their smokes during interogation in the mivies. I have also seen other pics og Germans holding smokes like that as well.

Once again, between the index finger and thumb.
