Default My SdKfz253 a WIP

I decided to back date my 1/6th scale AH(Armor Hobbies) SdKfz250 to a 253, and yes it is R/C. Here are a few pics of the halftrack with it's first coat of paint. Still a little ways to go. Comments welcomed as always.... Harold

Very Impressive!

Dumb question of the day. Do you have to add weight to the front to give the tires more grab?

Well the only added weight in the fromt is the motor/planetary gearbox, receiver, servo(steering), esc, and 2000mah nicad battery pack. The Traxxas Revo differential works perfectly

Here are the latest pics almost done except weathering and a few odds and sods to finish. Rained here all day so had to take these indoors with the flash. If the weather co-operates tomorrow I will attempt to get some outdoor pics. I haven't applied any unit emblems just tactical markings. As always comments welcomed.... Harold

Here is a link here to the initial build of the 253 when it was a 250. I have removed the interior to use iot in my 251 I'm building. but the dash and the drive train is still there just removed the seats etc.

Harold,

Do a not so smart guy a favor. How about a brief history the the half track you just made. I am intriqued by this vehicle. Was this an early or late model?

Very nice work!

Don

This is a late model sdkfz253. The early versions had a slopped back. The 253 halftracks preceeded the sdkfz 250 halftracks, you would think the the early ones would be 250 and later ones 253 ... go figure. Also the sdkfz 251 came out after the 250 did

Here are a few pics of the halftrack with some weathering. As time goes on more weathering will be done as I learn how to weather things. As always comments are welcomed.... Harold
