My Brother Tankers,

There is indeed so much talent on this site it really boggles the mind. However for some one area is like that part of the ocean that the ancient sailors feared.

I've spoken with a few of the guys on this site and what we would like to do is to give you all a bit of knowledge that will make this hobby even more fun, and a little less scary.

"Hey Baby I just ride'm I don't know what makes'm go." ODDBALL (Paraphrase)

What I am talking about is electronics. The goal here is not to have you be able to build your own ElMod, DMD, but to give a basic knowledge of how electrons flow and what you can use to control them.

Please I beg you friends do not take this as Don thinks we're idots. Far Far from that. I want to give everyone the best modelling tool you can get: Knowledge...and its' free!

So if you need some understanding I would like to start by refering you to this site:

http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/index.htm

I and some other will add to this as we go along. Try some simple projects. And I bet after a few minutes at least one person will look at a Heng Long Board and say "Ah, so that's what that is.

Please enjoy my Brothers and welcome to a new look into this fascinating hobby.

Don

Morning Don,

I for one will check this out. I for one am thankful for all your knowlege and welcome more. You are a great tanker and inventer. I take my hat off to you. Better put it back on..sun is hot.

As for info I will try and get with you and Bill on the 29th? I have two normal camcorders and one that is small and waterproof. I also have three tripods and a video editor computer for adding fades and sound effects. I am planning around this day as it sounds really cool with me . Bill told me of the "special effects" you have planned.

I will stay in touch. Don I still have the Pershing upper hull in my trunk if you still need one.

I have been sick and moddy lately. Nothing personal to you my friend. I think getting out will help.

Be well,

David

Hey David,

Yep some fresh air, sunshine and tanks will fix you up good. Oh yeah I have indeed made a special effects tank. I gotta say it turned out better than I thought

Yes sir that Pershing Upper will be good to do some fitting for the American Tank Commander. Sounds likeyou have allthe camera goodies we need.

In addition to Bill's movie, I would like to do one where all my tigers are moving in various attack formations.

Good to hear from you again and keep healthy!

Now one important and very useful bits of info is OHM'S Law. With these simple formulas you can answer many questions.

You will be able to find resistance, voltage and current, and do very easily. You will soon be able to find just whatyour motors are doing in your tank.

Give this a look and try it out on your tank, you might find one motor is doing better than the other. You might have been just about to buy a new set of gears when all that was wrong was the motor.

So why is the Machine gun that flashes, connected to the headlights that don't?

If you don't know then this little site will answer all your questions.

Thanks, Don.Regardless of my past electrical background,I`m gonna put these websites into my favorites list so I can pull them up when things get a
little fuzzy in my memory banks. Thanks for your time and trouble in researching and posting them for all to learn or re-learn.

How does that 7.2 volt battery make the two motors go roundy-roundy?

Resistance is Futile! Okay maybe itis not. In fact it is vital. Wanna know what a resistor does and how to tell if you have the right one?

Check this out. http://www.the12volt.com/resistors/resistors.asp

My electronic knowledge consists of; 'if it ain't going, the battery is dead. If the battery ain't dead'....um....that's it.

Thanks Don, much appreciated by this idiot!
