Default Help

All,
I'am finishing my Panther G, but have a problem with the left side ( drivers side ) idler wheel unscrewing itself. I tried to put some testors glue in the screw socket ( did the same for my Jagdpanther and worked great, so far? ) but not here. I heard of a plastic compatible locktight, but can't remember what color ( I think blue? ). Anyone can steer me in right right direction, I will be be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jim

1sgt, have you considered just using CA glue? That should work just fine from my experience.

I thought of that, but didn't want a permanent bond for maintenance. Let me know what you think?

Hang on for just a sec, Before you try anything you need to check for cracks in the mount hole. Might needto do a bit of repair before you try anything else.

I've done repairs and been all proud of myself when after a failure I realized I was just putting a bandaid over a problem.

Good luck and do let us know if you found any problems.

1sgt, I don't think CA glue would be anymore strong than a thread locker. At least when I've used thread lock for metal to metal bond, I've had the worst time backing it out over using just a dab of CA.<div></div><div>As Don stated, do check for cracks or faults in the hole. Those plastic screws do a fairly good job of staying put, so there may be other reasons why it keeps backing out. If there is a crack, use a small amount of epoxy putty to fill the hole so it fills any cracks or to just minimize the diameter of the hole, with a wet screw (so the screw doesn't stick to the putty) screw it in the putty filled hole and then slowly back out the screw. That's one solution.</div>

Don an BiggTony,

Don I took your advice and inspected for cracks. Didn't see any but sometimes you don't see them until the screw is in, so I went and clamped the housing and put some testors all around the inside of the socket. Let that dry overnight and when I put the screw in today, it felt almost like it was having to re-thread the hole. It was very tight and I think the screw won't back out again. Thanks.

You can also make those type of repairs with a 2 part epoxy. JUST REMEMBER TO GREASE THE SCREW FIRST. LOL
