Casting Help

Well, I'm striking out of finding replacement parts for the Kubelwagen spare tire that my daughter's dog ate... I have never tried casting, but could use one of the tires on the KWagen to try to make a new one I guess. Not sure how I'll do the wheel yet.
I assume that you have to do it in two parts and bond together, or is it possible to make a tire complete in one cast?

Unless your intending on making one complete solid wheel.....I'd consider waiting to see if a used Kubelwagon shows up on ebay for the cheap....seriously. If you can salvage the rubber tire, then the process of casting the rim for a practical cost is okay. But if your planning on casting rubber tires then the rim....not worth it man, unless you buy bulk and intend on using it for other purposes.

Yeah, been checking eBay since the 'incident' and they only have the 1/16 RC model... no way of getting one of those cheap. They've been starting at $150+. I've been hoping to find a static 1/16 and have spare parts.
Thanks for the advice... wish they would make these again.

Well Ern, if you have the rubber tires and only need the rim.... you could send me the one that needs to be replicated. If I understand correctly, the front wheels differ from the rear. So again, which ever needs to be replicated and not too intricate I can use what silicone/resin I have left. Actually, if you want, send me both the front and rear and I'll see if I can recast them as metal....not sure how resin will hold up on a vehicle that moves fast and I don't use urethane plastics.

Tanks everyone, and thank you Tony for the offer. I'm not too worried about it being a rubber tire because it just sits on the hood and from the looks on that link way more than I really want to spend for one wheel... I've super glues it back together and it looks like it has been through a few battles. The rim is in about 25 very small pieces, and the only ones I have to try to cast with are the working wheels from the model and they have a hole in the center wheel where you bolt it on..
Tony, I may have to take you up on that ~ let me look a little more and I'll get back to you. Thanks again for the offer.
