I know that lately I have posted a couple of times about a sherman build...I am still considering this build but then I came across the Matorro KT(being fairly new to rc tanks I thought tamiya was the only one that made KTs and those are out of my price range) I have seen many threads about the Matorro KT and they have been mixed, some have said good things about others have said bad...also many of these posts are old. So my question is have things changed? What is it like now? Are the electronics good, tracks reliable, etc? Also are there now upgrades available like metal track and gearboxes?. Also where ca they be bought? I checked most of the usual vendors and didn't see it. Does Phil sell them? And finally does anyone know what price they are now?...I would get both the sherman and KT since they are my two favorite tanks but if i did I would be a dead man..
Thanks

I'm waiting on the rumored Heng Long KT.
If I'm not mistaken the Matorro KT has garbage electronics (to say the least), which are usually swapped out with HL anyways.
I'm just going to wait and buy the HL KT when/if it comes out. I'm not holding my breath for it to appear, but assuming it continues along their lines of improving every model as it's released, I'm anticipating a good product.
Of course, the Tamiya KT isn't really THAT much more in the grand scheme of things, they can be had for $550 or so. OK, so it's a fair bit of money, but it's a Tamiya, and not mickey-mouse like the matorro or HL's in some respects.

What style of play do you intend, Airsoft, IR/ Which tank to recommend is difficult to say unless we know what you like. We could tell you to go by a bridge and you could think were serious. think of what style of play you want then make a decision.

I prefer airsoft I like to shoot at things and I also like to make scale buildings out of cardboard and shoot them up...I like the idea of IR but there are no clubs or battle grounds that I know of in my area and no one I know has tanks...although I am hopeing I can change that...but for now airsoft is what I am looking for...

Well then, the little PzIII has a nice nasty little gun in it because the barrel is so short. actually the barrel is there inner aluminum tube used in the other tank guns. would make a historically accurate opponent for you KV-1 also. I have one and it is the only HL tank I left stock just for the airsoft gun. Mine is just plain nasty.

Yea I have heard alot of good things about that tank...would it be easy to upgrade that one to IR later down the road if I wanted to?...Also How are the pershing and bulldog? I just love the look of both those tanks especially the bulldog...

Any tank can be upgraded to IR, the question is how do uyou want to do it. You can go with all Tamiya electronics or you can simply get a DBC from Phil to make the HL Tamiya IR compatible. There are many different roads you can take with these things, it comes down to how much you want to spend.
I second the PzIII for a kick ass airsoft gun. Greg is spot on with that.I almost feel bad that I am going to convert my last airsoft tank to IR...almost

Thanks...right now as little money as possible...airsoft is best for me right now but when I eventaully have several tanks, which I have come to realize will probably be inevitable, I will upgrade them to IR so that hopefully I will be able to invite friends over to battle and then encourage them to buy their own tanks...atleast that is my master plan...

would not say that to soon : you can have a tamiya KTFO for 425$ ask tony he got one to, nothings compare with that anyway
the matorro cost also 200$ you will spend more on upgrades than the tamiya build will cost consider that ... tankmaster5001

Yeah, don't ever rule out the Tamiya tanks when you decide to get an IR tank. Great deals can be found all the time.Tamiya is also the industry standard for IR so most clubs will be using some form of a Tamiya TBU.
