There are other forums on RCU that deal with cars, planes etc, but this deals with tanks and military. If other stuff was posted, soon, it would be so overcrowded with everything else, it would become very frustrating reading about other to many, uninteresting hobbies and weeding them out to find a tank.

I think the moderating is pretty relaxed here, honestly. Compared to other forums I've participated in, whoot.....talk about strict. We have all sorts of off topic non RC tank related stuff here, such as military history, diorama, scratch building static vehicles, model painting, airbrush inquires, what if threads, etc...but, still related in some ways. There's gotta be some limitations. If a thread gets moderated, it's my belief a moderator was called upon by a reported thread complaint since we rarely see a moderator here.

I think it was down right crazy to remove that thread!! I for one liked seeing what all the guy's I know and chat with on the tank board's other intrests where made you get more of a feel for them and made you kind of get to learn more about them and get to know them better wich was a good thing.
Mods are crazy here!

I don't disagree with the thread being up provided it doesn't open a can of worms, polluting the forumwith a ton of them. It does let us get to know each other here better......but then again. Some folks don't care to get to know each other better as this isn't their main objective to be here.......which is why I think the thread was reported. Can't blame the moderator for everything other than doing his/her duty.

I think the thread was harmless, but as far as moderating goes this forum is one of the best. Because it doesn't happen very often I think a thread to discuss other things could have be left with a warning that too much deviation from tanks would be dealt with.

Remain calm guys. Moderating is a thankless job and I think they do a real good job of it on here. A little unfortunate not to be given a little leaway, but I think we all agree, if content outside of RC tanks was allowed to expand having a separate RC tank forum could be in jeopardy. I.e the moderators we asked to start a specific RC tank forum so we wouldn't have to search out threads that pertained to tanks. IF we turn around and now say we want to talk about general hobby stuff, then we have a 180 degree turn in position from before.

IMHO the moderating here is pretty relaxed. As others have noted some forums are downright Orwellian. . if we want to find out abut each others other interests it is easy to look at profiles or if deeply interested pm the person

Did they appoint a Mod yet? I see the sticky is still in place, maybe we have a hidden mod, any one of us could be that mod !

I agree with staying on topic........tanks.

There is enough latitude already for "side trips"..... like my static tanks that are not R/C, and some of the humorous banter that takes place in the form of gentle kidding. I enjoy the wit, (and the wisdom) of youse guys. I check this forum a couple of times a day just to see what's going on in our hobby. I have a project going now that is going to be powered with the guts from a 1/35 scale R/C gizmo of some sort..........I got that idea from postings here. (it may not end up with enough power to climb over a cigaette butt.....however, we shall see).

I have searched a lot of hobby forums and there ain't a one that can equal this one, according to me.

And I am always right.

I run a webserver and forum. There was no harm in the thread. Like I said, Way voer moderated to the person who deleted. THere was no harm, and thre wqee was not going to be any spread from the thread. Why this thread stays and our last not? I'm very disapointed. First time I've visited the forum since I posted this thread. I'm halt tempted to move onto some other tanker forum. I have a big thing against crap like that.

THere was no harm, and thre wqee was not going to be any spread from the thread. Why this thread stays and our last not? I'm very disapointed. I hear what you are saying. I quit visiting a forum for heavy moderation and other moderator interference. The thing you have to realize is this forum has no moderator. We moderate it ourselves by being civil and respectful of others viewpoints. THe only reason that thread was pulled is that someone here made a complaint. So there is no big bad moderator, just a guy who responded to a complaint. IF the complaint is valid, and in this case it was( off topic from tanks) the moderator pulls out the rule book, acts and goes away until they hear another complaint from us THe discussion in this thread expresses opinions and viewpoints, that perhaps will make a the next devaition a little more tolerable. IF you reported this to a moderator it would be gone, because it too is in violation. There is no moderation if no one reports.

So your issue is not with a moderator. Your issue is with a forum member. It wasn't me, but I bet if you titled the thread, "none tank related other interest thread" it still would be here. You would have had enough information on the the subject line to draw in only those that would be interested in this type of thing. There is a member here who must have a very strong opinion on this, otherwise the thread would still be up.

There are lots of other tanker forums out there., I visited most of them, I always come back here, for the simple reason you have very good modelers, get intelligent debate, and oh the irony of this one, little moderation!!!!!

It seems a silly thing to complain about, just someone pissed off at a member and did the 2 year old trick of telling momy.
