My 1/6th Sherman
I finally aquired a DeSimone Sherman in 1/6th scale I pick it up this comming Friday. It is a static kit but I may make it rc, but will have to do alot of thinking on this. Have to decide what to use for the motor/gearbox units, what ESC to use etc. Here is a pic of the basic kit. Suggestions and comments welcomed.... Harold

Nice Harold. Where do you get this from? Those tracks look a little questionable for running. Is there a supplier of metal 1/6 Sherman tracks?
I will be interested in seeing this progress. I love Shermans and I have toyed with the idea of a 1/6 tank for awhile.

Very cool!
I almost got one years ago to go with the Stuarts but then I suddenly realized where the heck would I put it?

Hi YHR I picked this up from a fellow 1/6th club member(OOSC) for a super price just 130.00cdn. Panzerwerks sells detailed track for this tank along with sprockets, detailed road wheels and suspension parts

Well she's finally finished and before took her home I took some pics of her outside with natural light. It turned out quite nice for an el-cheapo Sherman. Main thing is Jack likes it and that's all that counts. Here are the pics... As always comments are welcome.... Thanks Harold

Pzrwest:
Desimone is the same guy that started with the old 'Tiger Joe' tank chassis (a quite large beastie) and began modding 'em into amphib's for the 12" figures.
That was one of the links in the modeling chain I found when researching what went into the design of the vehicle now known for its part in the Anderson/ITV series 'UFO' series. It was called a 'S.H.A.D.O.Mobile', or more often, a ShadoMobile. The most remembered use of them was in the episode where they manage to take one down, and try to capture it, but the Mobiles are sent in badly, and all hell breaks loose.
The chassis was a Tiger Joe chassis... and not very well hidden either. I can show ya my chassis, and close-ups of the series vehicles that match. Tracks were a few sections of a rubberoid composition that hasn't become brittle as the old Graupner Pistenbully/Kyosho Blizzard DX tracks I had did. Pop a few rivets they connected 'em with, and you could shorten the tracks, but to lengthen 'em, that would be a pain. Wish I could get someone that could repro the sections... now that would be handy.
Pain was... damn thing was ot designed for independant track drive. Solid axle between the sprocket-wheels. And the drive was rather poor. Still sitting on my chassis though... may get to my ShadoMobile project eventually... but probably not in 'studio scale' as the one repro body was expensive, and rather poorly made to boot.

RE: My 1/6th Sherman
Guys:
You wanna hear the M4A3 Ford, look for poster Harentrois, or use this link (the Brussels M26 backing out of their barn) and connect to his stuff... ~lotsa sweet engine sounds~...
And for the skeptics that scream at the classic 'clank/squeal' heard in the tank movies, listen as the Pershing turns... and in the Leopard movies as well. Its real, dammit!
Even Leo 1 sounds for you guys wanting audio for your new Leo's. Lets hope Tamiya went to visit 'em before they release their MF unit for her...
He even has video of a Maxon mount traversing/elevating... (sadly, no gunnery practice rounds) and the suckers were FAST, but they had to be to be a decent AA mount, right? Hard to believe they are THAT fast though.

RE: My 1/6th Sherman
RC Vantex / Fuyuan has a new rc M4A3 Sherman out in both gas or electric. Armorguy(John) from East Coast Armory is doing a detail session on it on SAG here's the link. http://www.sixtharmygroup.com/forums...k-project.html

RE: My 1/6th Sherman
Now see!. there is no reason companies cannot make rc tanks in 1:6 scale at reasonable prices. Someone just needs to do it.
I am not a huge Sherman fan, but if I had the opportunity to buy one of those tanks I would jump at the chance.
